Turnitin.com Student Log-In Information
Prepared by Ron Curtis of the English Department, Vanier College
To begin go to the Turnitin.com home page.
HELP: If you need help you can get more information on using the Turnitin system from the
Support page available from the Turnitin home page, or by clicking the help button once you are
logged in.
The Student Quickstart Guide may be helpful if you are having trouble with the system, and the
Student User Guide provides very comprehensive information on most aspects of Turnitin.
The video guides can also be very helpful if you are having trouble or want to find out more
about the system.
To get started:
At the top left of the page click near log in click Create Account.
On the new page under Create a New Account, click Student.
On the new page under Create New Student Account, enter the following in the fields indicated:
In the Class ID box, enter: **** WRITE YOUR CLASS ID NUMBER HERE ****
In the Class Enrollment Password Box, enter: **** WRITE YOUR PASSWORD HERE
****
(Be sure to use correct lowercase and capital letters in the password and enter the Class
ID number correctly)
Complete the remainder of the boxes on this page with your name, the email address you
want to use with this system, a password you will remember (such as the password you
use for LEA), and so on.
Once finished completing all boxes click the I Agree – Create Profile button at the
bottom of the page.
You should now have created your account, so click Log In to Turnitin from the completed user
profile page.
You should also be automatically enrolled in the course **** WRITE YOUR COURSE NAME
HERE ****
You should also be able to submit your assignments.
To submit your assignments, click on the assignment title.
Submitting an assignment is much like sending an email attachment.
Click the Submit button for the assignment.
Click the Browse button and select your file. Your file should be in Word format, but other
formats may also be accepted.
Click the Upload button.
Review your file in the review panel to ensure you are submitting the correct text.
IMPORTANT: Click Submit again at the bottom of the page to complete submission.
Your assignment should now be submitted.
You should receive an email from the Turnitin system confirming that your assignment was
submitted. If you do not receive this email within 24 hours check on your Turnitin account to
see if you have in fact successfully submitted your assignment.
Finally, it is important to recognize that use of this system helps us all by promoting honest work
and reducing cheating. If you spend 10 hours preparing a research paper which gets a grade of
85%, and someone else spends 15 minutes downloading a research paper which gets a grade of
85%, then that person has really just cheated you out of all your hard work.
