What is ARTIC™ Advanced Recirculating Total Impingement Cooling (ARTICTM) is a transformational, FTT‐developed advanced cooling system (Patent‐US 8096766) which utilizes sequential impingement to significantly enhance cooling of gas turbine parts. To more effectively utilize the supplied coolant, and to preclude hot gas intrusion, high pressure air is sequenced through the cooling system to achieve the highest efficiency and to match the pressure on the external surfaces of the parts. What can ARTIC™ do for you?  Reduced Turbine Cooling and Leakage Air (TCLA) up to 40%. Equivalent airfoil wall temperatures are achieved with less cooling air than modern serpentine cooling. Cooling air savings are enhanced when coupled with Thermal Barrier Coating (TBC). Zone C

ARTIC™ Cooling utilizes
multiple sequential impingement
 Higher Turbine Temperatures. The corollary to the above statement is that with the same level of cooling and wall temperature higher gas path temperatures are permissible.  Innovative, Clean Energy Solution. Realize cooling air savings in existing gas turbine engines. These result in:  Increased time on target Design optimizes impingement

 Extended range  Improved TSFC  Reduced NoX How does ARTIC™ work? The sequential impingement and matching of pressures, internal to external, provides a greater cooling effect for a given coolant flow thus resulting in a more efficient utilization of the cooling air. Why choose ARTIC™ cooling  It provides equivalent life with reduced cooling air or equivalent life at higher gas path temperatures with the same level of cooling air.  Reduces reliance on film cooling thus reducing plugging risk Same metal temperature with
less coolant flow
