Updating the

1. Look up your section in the most recent version of the CFR. Note the date of revision
for your CFR section. You can view the most recent version of the CFR on the GPO
Access site at:
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/cfr/index.html
2. From there, click the List of CFR Sections Affected link on the left side of the page
under the heading Related Resources. This discusses the LSA and the updating process.
3. From there, click the Browse the LSA link on the left side of the page under the
heading Database Features. This page is located at:
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/lsa/browse.html
4. Consult the most recent monthly List of CFR Sections Affected (LSA) to see if your
CFR part or section is listed.
5. In the most recent monthly LSA, choose the CFR title that you would like to update.
Click either the TEXT or PDF versions. Although it may be slower to load, the PDF
version is easier to read.
6. Check to see if yo ur CFR part or section has been affected by looking for final rules or
proposed rules. Entries for rules are arranged numerically by CFR title, chapter, part and
section. If there has been a change, the LSA will refer you to the pages in the Federal
Register in which the change is published. Check those page(s) in the Federal Register
to determine what the changes are to your regulation. Make certain the coverage of the
LSA begins the day after the date of revision for your CFR section in the main volume.
7. From the Browse the LSA page, click the List of CFR Sections Affected Main Page
link. After you have consulted the most recent monthly LSA, use your browser’s “back”
button to return to the GPO Access site and then click on the Last Month’s List of CFR
Parts Affected link on the left side of the page under the Database Features heading.

8. From the List of CFR Sections Affected Main Page, click on the Last Month’s List
of CFR Part’s Affected link. This page lists only the CFR parts and sections affected by
change(s) during the last month. This step may be unnecessary, depending upon the
availability of the most recent LSA. This page is located at:
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/lsa/lastmth.html
9. Check to see if your CFR part or section has been affected by looking for final rules or
proposed rules. If there has been a change, the LSA will refer you to the pages in the
Federal Register in which the change is published.
10. After you have done this, use your browser’s “back” button to return to the List of
CFR Sections Affected Main Page. Click on the Current List of CFR Parts Affected
link. This page lists only the CFR parts and sections affected by change(s) during the
current month. It is updated on a daily basis. This page is located at:
http://www.gpoaccess.gov/lsa/curlist.html
11. After you have done this, use your browser’s “back” button to return to the List of
CFR Sections Affected Main Page. Click on the List of CFR Parts Affected Today link.
This page lists the CFR parts and sections affected by changes appearing in today’s
Federal Register. It is updated on a daily basis. This page is located at:
http://www.gpo.gov/nara/lsa/lsatoday.html
12. If there has been a change to the regulation, the reference to the Federal Register
where the change can be found will be listed.
