Why
Transportation?
Safe, reliable, affordable and convenient
transportation is necessary for everyone’s
quality of life. Transportation enables people
to maintain their connections with friends
and family, access necessary services such as
health care, and travel to employment.
Dependable, accessible transportation is
necessary for a vital economy and integral
to an engaged community. However, the
resources required to ensure this access are
diminishing and fragmented while the needs
are growing.
Good transit service is particularly crucial for
those who cannot drive, including many in
the populations below.
In 2011, 24.8% of adults in Colorado
reported having a disability, along with
29.4% of veterans.
8.5% more adults with disabilities had
income under $15,000 compared to adults
without disabilities. (Source: CDC BRFSS)
By 2035 more than 1 in 4 people in the
Denver area will be 60 years old or older,
and many will choose to remain in their
communities as they age. (Source: DRCOG)
The 2005-2009 ACS estimates that 8.9 %
of persons over the age of 65 in the AAA
planning area have incomes below the
federally designated poverty level.
Approximately 11.3 % of the total regional
population is estimated to have incomes
below poverty. (Source: DRCOG)

DRMAC is a project of the
Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC).
A Local Coordinating Council (LCC) is an alliance
of community organizations, individuals, local
government, and other interested groups that works
together to identify and fulfill the public and human
service transportation needs of their counties. Key

About DRMAC
The Denver Regional Mobility and Access Council
(DRMAC) was established in 2005 to address the
specialized transportation needs for citizens of the greater
Denver metro area.
Our mission is to ensure people with mobility
challenges have access to the community
by increasing, enhancing, sharing, and
coordinating regional transportation services
and resources.
DRMAC is the facilitation body that brings specialized
transportation providers together for the good of all...
riders, providers and benefactors. It is our goal to assist
the LCCs success by providing resources and fostering
collaboration within and among the Denver area LCCs.
We are committed to providing
Mobility & Access For All.
