1. Installation of the Mumble Software
•
•
•
Download the Mumble Setup Wizard here.
Launch the Wizard.
Step through the default choices.
2. Audio Wizard
•
•
•
When you launch Mumble for the first time the Audio Wizard will start.
You can also manually start it by selecting Configure/Audio Wizard from the
Mumble menu if you need to re-adjust some settings.
Click Next for the first two steps.
•
Adjust the buffer setting to the lowest possible setting. Then click Next.
•
Don’t adjust the Volume Tuning slider yet.
•
Open your Windows Sound Control Panel. One way to do this is to search for
“Sound” within your start menu.
Select the Sound Control Panel item.
•
•
•
•
Go to the Recording Tab.
Select the microphone you are going to use for Mumble. Keep in mind there
may be several.
Make sure you have it set as the default device.
•
•
Click properties and then select the Levels Tab.
Adjust your microphone
•
NOW follow the instructions described in the Volume tuning dialog. You may
have to go back into the Microphone levels properties, make an adjustment
multiple times to get the levels just right.
•
Although we’ll set up the Voice Activity Detection levels in this next step, we
require everyone to use Push-to-Talk.
•
•
Before clicking next, Select Push-to-Talk.
Click the blank space next to it and press whichever key you wish to use for
your PTT.
•
In the Quality and Notifications dialog, select Disable Text-To-Speech
(otherwise you’ll be bombarded by Mumble’s text to speech robot every time
someone enters or leaves a channel).
•
Select Use Headphones in the Positional Audio dialog. We highly encourage
the use of headphones.
•
You are now finished with the Audio Wizard.
3. Adding Atlas Defense Industries as a server
•
Once you finish with the Audio Wizard, you’ll see the Mumble Server Connect
dialog. You can also open this selecting Server/Connect from the Mumble
menu.
•
•
Click Add New.
Fill out the form as below, but replace Username “YourHandleHere” with your
RSI Handle.
•
Click OK, then click Connect.
•
You’ll then be connected. Just hang out and someone will jump into the Lobby
to help you out.
4. Setting up the Star Citizen Mumble Skin
•
•
•
•
Download the skin here.
You can give feedback to the creator at this site.
Create a new folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Mumble.
Note for Windows users: if the standard Starcitizenskin.qss, does not work,
you can use the Starcitizenskin_mac.qss version.
•
Extract the files in the skin zip file to this new folder.
•
•
Select Configure/Settings/User Interface.
Click Browse under Look and Feel.
•
Browse to the files you just extracted and select StarCitizenSkin.qss
•
•
Click OK.
Close and re-launch Mumble. You should now see a lovely new skinned
Mumble application.
5. Exporting and Importing your Mumble Certificate
•
•
•
Your Mumble certificate is your passport to the server. It is important that you
make a backup of this file in the event your computer crashes or if you wish to
reinstall your software.
To export your certificate select Configure/Certificate Wizard.
Click Export Current Certificate and click Next.
•
Click Save As and browse to a location and give the certificate a filename.
Storing the certificate on a USB flash drive or Cloud storage location is
suggested, just in case your hard drive crashes.
•
To export your certificate select Configure/Certificate Wizard. Click Import A
Certificate and click Next.
•
Click Open and browse to the file location where you have your previously
exported certificate.
•
Click Next through the end and then click Finish.
