In order to reduce time and man hour at site during rebuilding of flue walls TC
has systems for efficient demolishing of flue walls as well as handling of wall
sections or complete walls during rebuilding. The walls may then be prebuilt and
handled as complete units into the backing area.

BAKING OPERATION - MAINTENANCE
TC Engineering AS has made a number of specialised systems for increased
efficiency and simplified operation during maintenance, demolishing and rebuilding
of flue walls.
DEMOLITION OF FLUE
WALLS
TC has solutions for demolition of flue walls by
grabbing. The grab will take section with a length up to
3 m and a height up to 1.5 m. The capacity will be up to
10 tons. A knife/ peak system will secure grip at the
wall side during grabbing. The grab is designed for
constant pressure during grabbing and handling and it
will automatic continue closing operation during the
complete handling cycle if the pressure reduces due to
movement of mass.
The grab may be supplied for handling of flue walls or
special designed for handling of end sections.
REBUILDING OF FLUE
WALLS
In order to reduce time and man hour at site during
rebuilding of flue walls TC has systems for handling
of wall sections or complete walls.
The walls may then be prebuilt and handled as
complete units into the backing area.
TC has different solutions for different wall designs.
We have equipment for handling of wall sections or
complete walls. For some wall designs special starter
blocks will have to be used while other designs may
be handled directly.
The system may be adapted to the customer
requirements.

ANODE HANDLING
TC Engineering AS has made a number of tongs for handling of single, double or
multiple anodes. This is hydraulic or mechanical units in heavy duty design.
Compact design and large range are some of the advantages for the TC anode
handling program.
MULTIPLE ANODE
HANDLING
For automatic operation of tongs the TC locking device is
used. This is based upon a rotating piston and a gas spring
system. The system is extremely efficient and reliable.
Tongs for handling of one or two anodes at the time is
supplied as mechanical or hydraulic units.
The TC tong for multiple anode handling is designed for
loading anodes in and out from the backing furnace. The
tong can handle anodes in vertical or horizontal direction.
This is a hydraulic operated unit. Hydraulic power pack
and controls are built into the unit. The only connection is
main power supply and external control of operation.
The tongs may be supplied in all sizes and ranges. They
may normally be adapted to the customer requirements.
The tongs will be adapted to the customer's requirement.
The TC design may be supplied with a large range and
high capacity. The maximum opening of this unit may
exceed 5 m and the range may be up to 1.5 m.
SINGLE ANODE
HANDLING
DOUBLE ANODE
HANDLING
TC has a variety of smaller units for handling of one or
two anodes in different positions. These may be used for
picking out single anodes from the backing furnace or for
handling and turning of single anodes.
For handling of anodes on top of each other by stacking,
destacking or handling, TC has designed a hydraulic unit
for single or double anode handling. The range may be
individually adapted. The unit has built in hydraulic
power pack and electric control system.
The units have a very robust design and a large range. The
smallest units require only 40 mm free space to enter side
of anode. As clamping element a cylindrical knife element
is used giving a good grip in all positions. This knife
system gives small handling marks and the damage to
anodes may be reduced.
The tong may be supplied with remote control, built in
rotation, laser height/ position control and weight sensing.

SLOTTING OF ANODES
TC Engineering has developed its excellent saw unit for slotting of anodes. TC’s
saw technology is combined with Lyng Drillings know how within cutting
technology. Development and marketing within this area is done in co-operation
with IMPEC AS. IMPEC is specialised within rodding.
TC has developed a highly flexible system for slot cutting.
Instead of cutting slots in the transport line for the anode
we are picking the anode out from the line, slotting it and
putting it back in the line again. Slotting can then be done
without interfering with the existing handling system.
By the use of TC’s flexible manipulator for anodes the
anode may be slotted along, across or diagonal. One, two
or three slots may be created and distance between the
slots can be varied easily.
The system also creates possibilities for variation of slot
depth during slotting. The slot may go right through the
anode, or it might be “open” at one side only.
The TC system may slot with a surface temperature for
the anode up to 250°C. Feeding and saw blade speed
may be varied, but optimised values will be given by our
saw blade supplier who has a long term experience in
this field. The system may be supplied with a complete
two step dust handling system as well as noise and dust
enclosure.
