IndustrialIT maintains a real-time connection between devices at field level, e.g. pumps, engines, valves or switches and the overlying company level, from operational management all the way to top management. The information is put into a concentrated and comprehensible form for end users. Besides integrating the various levels of the company, Industrial IT performs an important function by monitoring the life cycle of all system parts. IndustrialIT also supports integration and optimization along the entire value-added chain to ensure smooth and flexible cooperation with customers and suppliers. IndustrialIT Highlights · At the Untervaz works operated by the cement producer Holcim, a fully automated laboratory (Autolab) takes material samples along the entire production chain and analyzes it. With the IndustrialIT system provided by ABB, this data can be called up at any time by the quality officer, the shift supervisor or the Group management. This capability allows for fast decision making and improved product quality. · ABB provided the entire electrical and control technology for a new third furnace line at a waste-to-energy plant in Malmö, Sweden. Thanks to OperateIT, the plant operators have an advanced information management system with a modern and standardized Windowsbased user interface at their disposal. Different systems and applications are synchronized with each other. The components integrate process information seamlessly and enhance the efficiency of operational management. · An OperateIT substation control system from ABB is installed at the substation in Tessin Canton, one of the most vital junctions in the Central European power supply market. 10 11 Our Research and Development Our Employees Education and knowledge will be decisive factors for the success of countries like Switzerland in the 21st century.
