Dear Student:
Welcome to Math 8. A new school year has begun, which means a lot of
things…reuniting with old friends, making new friends, participating in school
sports and activities…and obviously back to the grind…school work!
Let me first introduce myself, my name in Mr. Ostoforov (Mr. O) and I will be your
teacher for a good portion of the school year. Your regular teacher, Mrs. Carlson
as you may know is on maternity leave at the moment and is scheduled to return
a few weeks prior to spring break. I have always enjoyed my time GMS and I am
looking forward to being your teacher and being part of your learning this year.
This is a very exciting time in your life as there is a transformation starting to take
place in education, mainly in the form of new curriculum and most importantly a
new way of learning. As with any change there is always some uncertainty and
inherent challenges. This school year we will be starting to implement some of
these changes, while maintaining a school environment to which you are
accustomed.
To help ensure we can create a learning environment conducive to learning,
please review the information on my website (www.mrostoforov.weebly.com),
specifically the Expectations, Course Overview, and Assessment sections. Once
you have reviewed this content, please read and sign the Student Agreement
below stating that you follow these guidelines.
I am dedicated and motivated to seeing everyone have success this year in
math. I know Math for many students can be very challenging and I am very
optimistic that my nurturing nature combined with new engaging ways of
looking at math will make learning Math an enjoyable experience. Let’s make
this year one to remember…let’s learn, but let’s have as much fun as we can in
the process.
Professionally,
Mr. Ostoforov
