de Souza Institute
Mission:
To inspire and empower health care professionals to provide the best cancer and palliative care through education and mentorship.
About de Souza Institute:
In 2008, the Ontario government funded de Souza Institute to support nurses that care for cancer patients and their families. In 2013, de Souza Institute
expanded its mandate to include other health care professionals. Through de Souza Institute, health care professionals obtain the specialized skills to
guide and help cancer patients throughout their journey (prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, survivorship and palliation). de Souza Institute
courses are offered primarily online with the occasional course through webcast or in-person.
de Souza Institute is pleased to partner with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, Cancer Care Ontario and University Health Network to offer the
best continuing education in cancer and palliative care.
Interprofessional Courses
In addition to nursing specific courses, (i.e. Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy, and study groups), de Souza Institute is offering
courses with an interprofessional focus which may be of interest to physicians, social workers, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists,
spiritual care providers, psychologists and radiation therapists.
