It is an opportunity for technology providers to evaluate the feasibility and suitability of the designated POPs waste matrix to their processing technologies to eventually enable them to formulate bidding documents for the tender that would be published by mid of December 2010. The project will directly provide for treatment in accordance with Stockholm Convention and Basel Convention guidelines of a minimum of 10,000 tons of identified targeted POPs pesticide wastes and 1,000 tons of PCDD/PCDFs rich fly ash. The project will also introduce regulatory reforms and strengthen the national capacity to identify, assess, manage, and treat other such wastes in an environmentally sustainable manner by use of new analytical and organizational techniques such as qualitative environmental risk assessment and public-private partnerships (PPP). The Seminar on “State of the Art Alternative Technologies for Management and Disposal of obsolete POPs Pesticides and Other POPs Wastes” is being organized under the umbrella of the Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP), People’s Republic of China. The workshop will provide the opportunity for technology providers to present their processing technologies and solutions and thus disseminate information concerning recent developments in the field of disposal/destruction technologies for obsolete POPs pesticides and associated wastes to the broad technical audience and stakeholders and raise awareness of the public. It is a unique opportunity to gather a recent overview of the many technologies available directly from their providers.
