Goal #1: To develop entry level counseling psychologists who are capable of practicing
ethically and capably within the bounds of their competence. Thus, we seek to develop

Competencies Expected for this Objective:
A1: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the core foundational areas of psychology.
A2: Students will demonstrate knowledge of the central tenets of Counseling Psychology.
A3: Students will demonstrate knowledge of a range of counseling theories.
A4: Students will demonstrate knowledge of psychometric principles.
A5: Students will demonstrate data analysis and interpretation skills.
Objective B: apply psychological principles to effective assessment, intervention, and
evaluation activities
Competencies Expected for this Objective:
B1: Students will demonstrate the ability to select, administer, and interpret results of
psychological assessment instruments.
B2: Students will demonstrate the ability to conduct a clinical interview.
B3: Students will demonstrate the ability to conceptualize clients' presenting concerns and to
produce a plan for intervention.
B4: Students will demonstrate the ability to select and implement a variety of treatment
interventions.
B5: Students will demonstrate the ability to evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and to
make adjustments based upon the results of their evaluation.
