Notes for authors
In order that your article can be processed without complications and as quickly as
possible through the multiple stage review process, it is necessary that your
submitted manuscript meets certain quality standards.
The editorial team of the journal GIS.Science therefore requests that you adhere to
the following guidelines:
Manuscripts should be submitted in Microsoft Word format, or similar, using
standard fonts and without hyphenation.
Article titles should be as short as possible whilst still giving the reader a clear
indication of the theme of the article.
Abstracts should be supplied with a maximum length of 1000 characters
(including spaces). If possible, both German and English-language abstracts
should be supplied.
Keywords should preferably be given in both German and English.
The list of authors including title, position and complete address, including email address(es) should be given at then end of the text.
Individual sections should be sensibly numbered with a maximum of two
levels, beginning with an introduction to the topic and ending with a short
outlook.
Figures and tables should be referred to and discussed in the text. These
references should be highlighted in yellow.
Illustrations which are not the author’s own should be referenced
appropriately.
Formulae should be created as vector graphics using a suitable formula editor
(e.g. MathType).
Please note that photographs should have a minimum 300dpi and line
drawings minimum 1200dpi in order to convert RGB-colours to YMCK-colours
to produce a high-quality print.
All illustrations should be inserted at the desired position in the text and also
supplied as individual files in TIFF or JPG format with appropriate filenames
(e.g. Author_Fig_1.jpg).
Footnotes should not be used.
Citations in the text should be given in round brackets and without a comma
between author and year, e.g. (Author 2009) or (Author 1, Author 2 2009). For
citations with more than two authors the first author name and “et. al” should
be used (e.g. Author et. al 2009).
Citations in the text should be highlighted in neon green.
The reference list should be ordered alphabetically by first author surname
and year. Individual authors should be listed by surname and initial and
separated with a semi-colon. Examples for different citation types are given
below:
