MDI MEDIA - IN Input medium type Producer Model Tested firmware iPod 3G 2003 Capacity Errors and notes Charging Apple iPod 3rd generation cannot be charged by MEDIA IN. An empty battery needs to be re-charged externally. Charging If the battery of connected unit is empty, a basic charging player is necessary, before it will be recognized by MEDIA IN. In this case the player cannot be used right after first plug-in. Known description of individual behaviour Tracking Volume adjustment The volume of iPod/iPhone can basically be controlled by volume level knob of sound system. Additionally it is possible to trim the volume setting by Aux-level mode in radio/navigation unit. Browsing After connecting the player, the browser mode does not offer a direct link to the current title. The information necessary will not be offered. Right after choosing a single audio track the browser function is activated. Please keep in mind that starting your car’s engine is similar to a plug in of player to MEDIA IN too. MIX iPod/iPhone/iPad Repeat track Apple Track data Incoming calls Sorting Track skip iPhone/iPad iPad With some Apple units it is not possible to track backwards to the former track (branded behaviour). Error response Missing audio playback of the iPhone 3G / 3GS If you open the data browser in mix mode, this will not directly link to the current audio track. Right after deactivating the mix mode this function will be offered any further. Different iPod units or alternating software versions (firmware version) misbehave in function of “repeat track”. Some units sporadically do not offer information of track data or track change. As a follow up the track data will not be updated within track change. If the Apple iPhone is connected via MEDIAIN, mistaken sounds need to be expected during incoming phone calls. Some units of iPod/iPhone do not transfer playlists in alphabetical sorting. If you skip backward the iPod Touch during a song, the iPod Touch jumps directly to the song before the played one. Any other units just jump back to the same song beginning from 3rd second of played track. The display view “This accessory is not made to work with iPhone” can be ignored. In very rare cases it might occur, that the iPhone 3G / 3GS mutes the audio playback after first connection to MEDIA IN. The iPhone. In this case iPhone must be plugged off from MEDIA IN and re-connected afterwards to reset a successful playback. Note: Different versions of software/firmware may react with a different behaviour of storage player.
