2015-2016 University of Guelph Aquatics Application
The University of Guelph Aquatics section of the Department of Athletics offers many
recreational, instructional and intramural opportunities to the University of Guelph
community through our wide selection of programs and activities.
Our aquatic facility consists of two pools and a hot tub. The Gold pool is a 25m, 8-lane
pool, with an even depth of 6 feet. The Red pool is a 25yd., 5-lane leisure and instructional
pool, with a depth ranging from 4 to 11 feet, and a 1m springboard. Feel free to better
acquaint yourself with our facility as there are many open swims this week. The University
of Guelph lifeguards are a tight knit staff committed to providing our patrons with a safe and
enjoyable aquatic experience, as well as the safe operation and supervision of our facility.
Duties as an employee of the University of Guelph Aquatics Department will include
opening and closing of the pool, deck set-up and clean-up, instructional shifts and
attendance at all staff trainings. Staff training is absolutely mandatory! Pay rates for
employees are $11.00/hour for training, $12.50/hour for guarding and $14.00/hour for
instructing with $20.50/hour for advanced leadership and private lessons.
There are roughly 20 lifeguard/instructor positions available at the University of Guelph for
the next two semesters. We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated and reliable individuals
that have extensive first aid ability and lifeguarding experience with instructional experience
as an asset. Employment will be based on overall performance on a combination of dry and
wet interviews. Applicants are expected to have current NLS, SFA, with AED awards prior
to applying. Red Cross and LSS instructor awards are strongly recommended and valued.
Other advanced qualifications are also valued.
Please contact the Head Guards with any questions concerning the application process:

We look forward to meeting you in person! Good luck and have fun!
