Setting up wheel system. NB. there is a weight limit of 15 Kgs load for the system. Rope hauling holes, when wheels hinged up. (rope not supplied) Kit comprises, 2 wheels/inner tubes, wheel frames and hinges. 1 Ice Blue pulk shell with 2 ash battens loosely bolted under shell flange, and with other holes drilled. 1 shell support cross tube with quick release bolts fitted. 2 hauling shaft attachment tubes (angled) with nuts/bolts/washers fitted. 2 shaft connector tubes with button clips. 2 hauler end shaft tubes (which attach to the hauling harness) 2. Lay shell the right way up - the wheel frames are more easily fitted like this. Bolt hinges under the wooden battens, with bolt heads/ washers on top of shell flange, nuts (no washers) under the hinges. Do up tightly but not over tight! The hinge knuckles are on the outside and against the wood. 3. Turn shell and wheels upside down and attach the cross-tube - undo the knurled quick release nuts about 1 cms, trap the slotted wheel frame angle of one wheel between the nut and cross-tube, almost tighten the nut with the lever straight down, and then use the lever to finally tighten. However, be careful to make sure the concave top of the washer aligns with the convex lever base. Repeat with the other wheel assembly. 4. Turn the shell and wheels over. 5. Attach the hauling shaft attachment tubes, bolt heads/washers on top of the square tubes, washers/nuts under the wooden batten. 6. Slide in the connector tubes until the button clips click into place. (Be careful not to get dirt between these tubes!) 7. Slide the hauler end shaft tubes over the connector tubes until the button clips click into place. (These shaft tubes are the standard item of the normal hauling shaft. All other items for the wheel system are specific to the wheel system.) In Use There has to be a small load at the harness end of the hauling shaft – maybe 2 Kgs at most. To arrange this (before the hauler end shaft tubes are attached) place the heaviest items over the wheels, and also get the centre of gravity of the load over or just behind the wheels. The horizontal shell will then roughly be in balance over the wheels. Adding the shaft tubes will then give a small load at the harness. It is not well balanced if the shaft tubes tend to lift up the harness!
