HIGH PE RF OR M A N C E Covelight The Covelight from Alera Lighting sets a new standard for inspired illumination. Its innovative reflector system, judicious number of parts, and automated assemblies put the Covelight in a class all its own. With pleasingly uniform ceiling and wall distributions, without telltale socket shadows, the fixture outperforms even the best strip light system. And with a price comparable to strips, the Covelight is perfect for any cove installation. Traditional Strip System Strip lighting systems used in wall coves are economical but produce uneven illumination. Most of the light is delivered directly above the cove making the ceiling too bright. Additionally, unless a reflector is used, socket shadows are usually prevalent on the wall behind the cove. Alera’s Covelight The Covelight excels at uniform distribution without unsightly hot spots or socket shadows. A carefully contoured reflector throws light evenly into the middle of the room and onto the ceiling. The upper reflector is complemented by a below-lamp bottom reflector to produce uniform light on the wall without socket shadows. Remarkable Distribution The distribution of the Covelight, as compared to a strip light system, is truly remarkable. The widespread, comfortable light span can highlight the ceiling and expand the perceived size of the room. As the diagram illustrates, the light tapers off in subtle gradations that are nearly imperceptible to the human eye. 63 82 100 4 ⁄2′ 1 140 183 223 259 249 181 110 18″ 189 115 185 140 192 119 145 205 281 121 148 209 139 239 61 80 99 191 285 199 100 190 278 60 80 139 234 272 195 131 132 228 260 101 180 268 61 83 62 82 100 138 195 242 284 280 199 123 148 210 Readings in Footcandles Unique Reflector System The Covelight’s computer designed reflector system is notched at the end of each reflector section. This unique, precision notching allows light flow upward onto the wall behind the cove without socket shadows. By minimizing the notch, however, efficiency and light distribution are maximized. Easy Installation All Covelights come standard with single circuit quick-disconnect plugs. The hinged reflector allows quick and easy access to the ballast and the wireway allowing simple, hassle-free installation on the deeper units. One light T5 and T5 HO profiles are minimized to 17⁄8″ x 61⁄4″ to take advantage of the smaller lamp. The T8 and twin tube housings are a nominal 7 5⁄16″ x 27⁄8″ and provide excellent optics. The precisely formed reflector places maximum candela at low angles for uniform ceiling and wall illumination, and eliminates socket shadows on the wall. The snap-in reflector system on deeper units permits easy ballast access without tools. Finish Reflector finish is standard high reflectance white powder coat. All painted parts are treated with a five-stage phosphate bonding process and finished with a white RAL powder coat for maximum consistent coverage and longevity. Installation The PIC is designed for lay-in installation in architectural coves. Bend over tabs allow a quick and simple method to secure fixtures in rows. Holes are drilled in housing bottom for optional screw attachment where fixture must be secured to structure. For proper wall and ceiling uniformity, it is recommended that the cove not be any closer than 14″ from the ceiling. Labels and Electrical All fixtures bear appropriate UL or CSA labels. Fixtures are prewired with class “P” ballasts for T8 or T5 twin tube, T5 standard or T5 HO operation as appropriate, available in 120, 277, or 347 volt. For rapid field installation, all fixtures mounted in-row are furnished with single circuit through wiring and quick-connect plugs as standard.
