Our Philosophy Daily routine Special Visitors Kids should be kids and have a chance to fully enjoy this time of creative exploration, new friends and new adventures. North Haven Playschool is a community based playschool committed to helping young children develop social skills, share new experiences and make new friends. Our day begins with unstructured play time. The children are free to move between two rooms where a variety of toys, games and activities await them. At the end of play time we work as a group to clean up and put away the toys. This encourages sharing, team work and listening skills. We have special visitors come to the playschool to share fun and to provide learning experiences. Visitors have included Policemen, Firemen, Dentists and musicians. Parents if you would like to share your work or personal experiences with the class please speak with one of the teachers. Circle time and story time is a structured time for singing, dancing, sharing experiences and learning. We are learning to take turns, use our listening and cognitive skills. The 4 year olds also have an ECS orientation at North Haven Elementary School in late spring. Snack time is a social gathering where we sit down as a group and enjoy each others company. We encourage healthy snacks so that young bodies have energy and grow healthy and strong. Craft time is a structured time with open ended art experiences. The children are encouraged to express their creativity and have fun. All of the crafts are unique masterpieces treasured by staff and parents. Getting Involved Parent volunteers are a vital part of our program. Parents are not required to volunteer, but volunteering in the class is strongly encouraged. Having extra adults helps us create a relaxed and fun experience for the children. We encourage you to participate in your child’s development, joys, and new found selfconfidence. We value a sense of community and family – a place where we all belong. Gym time is an opportunity for the children to enhance their motor and cognitive skills. Math skills are built by playing games like “What time is it Mr. Wolf”. We provide a variety of indoor and outdoor, age-appropriate, actives. Playschool Learning North Haven Playschool is a safe and inviting environment to explore new friendships and activities. We encourage each child to participate at his or her own comfort level. North Haven Playschool is play based. Children learn many things while they enjoy themselves in play. While at play children are enhancing their motor skills, literacy, co-ordination, problem solving and social and emotional skills. The staff and volunteers will encourage and challenge your child when they play, letting them try new things and above all allowing them to have fun.
