Excellent Career Opportunities For Women and Men
Program Description
The Automotive Service Technology Program is designed to
provide the training to prepare students for employment in the
dynamic high-tech automotive repair industry. Technological
advances in today’s automobiles require a highly skilled
automotive repair technician.
The AST program offers training in all 9 ASE areas of automotive
diagnostics and repair with emphasis on
electronic and computer-integrated systems
found on today’s automobiles.
The AST Program requires a minimum of
two years to complete. Enrollment is open
to those who qualify at the beginning of fall,
winter, and spring quarters of each
academic year. An Associate of Applied
Science Degree in Automotive Service
Technology is awarded upon the successful
completion of the program.

ASE Master Certified Training
Program
YVC’s Automotive Service Technology program
has been evaluated and certified by the National
Automotive Technicians Education Foundation
(NATEF) and is at the highest NATEF level, Master
Automotive Service Technology. This level is the
same accreditation as all the highly marketed
technical institutes.
All instructors, at a minimum, are ASE Certified in
the area they teach and have years of field
(industry) experience.
Credit toward the YVC AST AAS degree can
be earned while in high school attending YV-Tech
Skills Center’s Automotive Program thanks to NATEF
Accreditation and an articulation agreement between the two
programs.

Career Opportunities
Auto student in lab
Career opportunities in automotive service technology are better than ever. Millions of motor vehicles travel our nation’s
highways. Many people are keeping their cars longer and putting more miles on them. This results in the need for more
automotive service and repair technicians. Entry level technicians work at:

Dealerships

Independent shops

Fleet shops

National chains

Municipalities

Specialty repair shop

Parts specialist for dealership or aftermarket retailer

Machine Shops
Each one of these opportunities offers the chance for promotion for the driven individual. Transitioning into heavy-duty
or marine technician from light-duty automotive technician is also easier.
Be ready to go to work the day after your graduate. Due to the tool requirement of the program, you will have a set of
tools that you were able to purchase at a deep student discount.
