Heavy Duty Trip-Wire Switches The mining industry’s first choice for safety SAFETY PRODUCTS ® * Only registered in Australia NHP Electrical Engineering Products Sales 1300 NHP NHP Sales 0800 NHP NHP | | nhp.com.au nhp-nz.com With today’s rigid requirements for safety in the workplace, companies are continually looking for high quality, heavy duty products which can meet and exceed industry safety requirements. The NHP/NTW series 55.4 trip-wire switch (or lanyard switch) is one of the only switches of its type on the Australian market which is designed and manufactured in Australia to specifically cope with the harsh realities of Australian Industry and meet according standards (AS 1755-1986). This has been particularly the case within the mining and construction industry where features such as rugged cast aluminium housing, standard IP 65/67 dust and water resistance and non-ferrous component construction have made the NTW 55.4 the number one choice. The NTW heavy duty trip-wire switch has been designed for use with conveyors or where it is desired to protect a large area with the use of only one emergency safety switch. Offering both left and right hand operation the NTW 55.4 will operate with a force not exceeding 70 newtons and with optional supports and tension springs can cover an area of over 100 metres (maximum) in both directions. The NTW 55.4 is supplied standard with a padlocking facility to prevent unauthorised operation, flag indicator and exclusive self wiping 1 normally open / 1 normally closed silver contacts, with the option of 2 normally open / 2 normally closed and gold contacts available on request. For safety applications it is also worth noting that the normally closed contact cannot be broken without the switch having been in the tripped position. A wide range of accessories and switch options including single sided operation, key lock-out facility, pilot light, cover with clear glass viewing window and the availability of a Dust excluding ignition proof variation ensures that there is a trip-wire switch available to suit the majority of applications. NHP’s commitment to Australian manufacturing As a 100% Australian owned company, NHP offer a product range that is engineered and manufactured by Australians to suit local conditions. Accordingly NHP have developed the NHP Austrol range of heavy duty control and signalling equipment to cater for the various requirements experienced in Australian industry. ® 2 Features • Non ferrous components used throughout • Single or double sided operation • Cast aluminium construction • Flag indicator and padlocking facility supplied as standard • IP 65 and IP 67 to AS1939-1990 • All operating shafts and springs are stainless steel •Supplied with standard 1 N/O + 1 N/C contacts. 2 N/O + 2 N/C available on request • Complies with AS1755-1986 as a pull wire or lanyard emergency stop switch UV resistant neoprene seals • Fail safe mechanism including removal or breakage of either wire • Dust excluding ignition proof version available • Standard manual reset • Gold plated contacts available Optional window for external cam adjustment Manual reset IP 65/67 protection Padlocking feature (Padlock not supplied) Indicator ® 3 Durable low maintenance mechanism ensures long life and durability. Method of installation Double sided operation 1.Firmly mount switch in the centre of the proposed trip-wire run. Up to 100 metres per side is permissible. 2. Position wire supports at approximately 4.5 metre spacing. 3.Fit tension spring (Cat. No. 55.2.46) at each end of wire run. This allows operation via a pull on the wire in any direction. Without the spring a pull along the wire axis towards the switch will not operate the unit. 4.Run the wire and fit end thimbles and clamps. Remove any wire coating in clamp area and thimble to ensure the end loop is slip free. 5.With the wire connected at both ends pull firmly between supports to take up initial stretch. 6.Adjust the turnbuckles so that the operating lever is centred in the middle of the operating cam. Friction in the wire supports will create a deadband and it will be necessary to approximate the centre. 7.Check for correct electrical operation when the wire is pulled. Note: Single sided operation, left or right hand, available factory fitted only. 100 METRES MAX. 4.5 100 METRES MAX. 4.5 WIRE SUPPORTS TENSION SPRING TURNBUCKLE TURNBUCKLE TENSION SPRING ® 7 AUSTRALIA NEW SOUTH WALES QUEENSLAND Sydney 30-34 Day Street North Silverwater NSW 2128 Tel +61 2 9748 3444 Brisbane 16 Riverview Place Murarrie QLD 4172 Tel +61 7 3909 4999 Melbourne 43-67 River Street Richmond VIC 3121 Tel +61 3 9429 2999 Newcastle 575 Maitland Road Mayfield West NSW 2304 Tel +61 2 4960 2220 Fax +61 2 4960 2203 Townsville 5 Leyland Street Garbutt QLD 4814 Tel +61 7 4779 0700 Fax +61 7 4775 1457 Laverton 104-106 William Angliss Drive Laverton North VIC 3026 Tel +61 3 9368 2901 Wollongong 34 Industrial Road Unanderra NSW 2526 Tel +61 2 4272 5763 Fax +61 2 4272 5957 Rockhampton 1 Lawson Street Parkhurst QLD 4702 Tel +61 7 4927 2277 Fax +61 7 4922 2947 Albury / Wodonga 847 Ramsden Drive Albury NSW 2640 Tel +61 2 6049 0600 Fax +61 3 6025 0592 ACT Toowoomba Cnr Carroll Street and Struan Court QLD 4350 Tel +61 7 4634 4799 Fax +61 7 4633 1796 nhp.com.au SALES 1300 NHP NHP FAX 1300 NHP FAX VICTORIA Dandenong 40-42 Cyber Loop Dandenong South VIC 3175 Tel +61 3 8773 6400 Fax +61 3 8768 8522 TASMANIA Hobart Unit 2 65 Albert Street Moonah TAS 7009 Tel +61 3 6228 9575 Fax +61 3 6228 9757 Launceston Unit 3 13-17 Merino Street Kings Meadows TAS 7249 Tel +61 3 6345 2600 Fax +61 3 6344 6324 Canberra Unit1 187 Gladstone Street Fyshwick ACT 2609 Tel +61 2 6280 9888 Fax +61 2 6280 9588 WESTERN AUSTRALIA Perth 38 Belmont Ave Rivervale WA 6103 Tel +61 8 9277 1777 NORTHERN TERRITORY Darwin 3 Steele Street Winnellie NT 0820 Tel +61 8 8947 2666 Fax +61 8 8947 2049 NHP Electrical Engineering Products Pty Ltd A.B.N. 84 004 304 812 NHPNTWC0213 © Copyright NHP 2012 Cairns Unit 2 1 Bramp Close Portsmith QLD 4870 Tel +61 7 4035 6888 Fax +61 7 4035 6999 SOUTH AUSTRALIA Adelaide 36-38 Croydon Road Keswick SA 5035 Tel +61 8 8297 9055 NEW ZEALAND nhp-nz.com SALES 0800 NHP NHP FAX 0800 FAX NHP PO Box 62-009 Sylvia Park Auckland 1644 New Zealand Auckland 118a Carbine Road Mt Wellington 1060 Tel +64 9 276 1967 Hamilton 78 Rostrevor Street Hamilton 3204 Tel +64 7 849 0257 Fax +64 800 329 647 Napier 126 Taradale Road Onekawa 4110 Tel +64 6 843 6928 Fax +64 800 329 647 New Plymouth 2 Dean Place Waiwhakaiho 4312 Tel 0800 NHP NHP Fax +64 800 329 647 Wellington 52 Victoria Street Lower Hutt 5010 Tel +64 4 570 0634 Fax +64 800 329 647 Christchurch 27 Iversen Terrace Waltham 8011 Tel +64 3 377 4407 Fax +64 3 377 4405 Dunedin 30 Fox Street South Dunedin 9012 Tel 0800 NHP NHP Fax +64 800 329 647
