Comments:
Employees are required to use a professional technique/conduct and care when handling production parts/materials.
There is no substitute or alternative that has a greater impact in eliminating handling damage.
•
All open circuit breakers, relays, and rheostats are to be adequately wrapped or packaged while being
handled, transported, and stored. Relay switch, and rheostat terminals should be protected to prevent
bending or breaking when cartons providing sufficient protection are not used.
•
Parts of this type should never be dropped, hit, or abused. They are to be kept away from moisture to
prevent corrosion.
•
The parts should be kept in the original containers as long as possible and practical and their containers
labeled to identify their contents.
•
Closed circuit breakers and switches need not be stored in individual packages. Care should be taken to
prevent damage.
Electronic Assembly made on a Printed Circuit Board
•
These circuits must produce a very reliable service function and by their design are very delicate. In as
much as this is true, their packaging and handling must be of the most careful nature.
•
Printed Circuit Board Material. The material, being copper covered phoenolite, fiberglass, or similar material
must be interleaved with paper or wrapped individually at all times. Store raw stock flat.
•
Printed Circuit Board Components. All printed circuit board components such as resistors, capacitors,
diodes, transistors, etc., must be packaged in such a manner as to protect them from damage and
contamination until the time of assembly.
•
Printed Circuit Board Assemblies. All printed circuit board assemblies must be individually packaged in
cushioning material. Package will ensure protection of assemblies during transporting and storage.
•
Electrostatic Sensitive Devices and Assemblies. Electronic and electrical components, which are sensitive
to static discharge. See WI 04-08-052 – Handling Instructions For Electrostatic Discharge Sensitive
