Work Instructions WI – C507 Logistics Insight Corporation – Pontiac LOC HVAC Sub-Assembly Work Instructions Version: 1.0 Date: 04/23/2007 Subject: This document describes the sub-assembly procedure for HVAC units. Equipment: 1) Assembly Fixture 2) Lift Assist 3) Electric Driver 4) Kitting Cart 5) Markers/Crayons 6) Pencil/Pen 7) Broadcast Manifest 8) Sequence Logs 9) NCP Tags General Requirements: • See Standardized Work Instruction W-C01. • This part is audited with a scanner, See Standardized Work Instruction WI-103 • Scanner Contingency, use blind audit See Standardized Work Instruction WI-101 Special Requirements: • • Report any scanner or printer problems to your supervisor immediately. Each broadcast must be initialed with sequencers initials and the shift. Sequence/Subassembly Procedure HVAC Pre-Assembly Kitting 1) Retrieve Broadcast from printer. If no Broadcast is received after 10 minutes notify the supervisor/coordinator immediately. Employee will be receiving three identical Broadcasts for each rack from the printer. 2) Verify manifest numbers and update sequence log as follows. a) Date: Day that Sequencer is actually doing the sequencing b) Shift: Shift the employee is working (1st, 2nd). c) Time: Time that is printed on the bottom of the Broadcast d) Rack Number: The rack number is printed on the broadcast. The rack number is entered and checked that it is the next rack number to guarantee that the racks are completed in sequential order. e) Initials: Initials of the person logging in the Broadcast 3) Notify the supervisor/coordinator immediately if the rack number is not in sequence. 4) Review the broadcast and select the appropriate heat duct and hush panel and place into the correct sell in the kitting cart. 5) Move completed kitting cart to the appropriate assembly station. Pictures Figure 1 - HVAC Setup Cart HVAC Sub Assembly 1) Move empty sequence rack to work area. 2) Remove old manifests from sequence rack. 3) Before sequencing the rack the sequencer must do a “Hinge Snap Back” check. Push the right side of the hinge down with your foot & make sure it snaps back. Repeat the process on the left side of the hinge. If the hinge is not working correctly, pull the rack out and take it to rack repair. 4) Select first/next HVAC unit from manifest. 5) Scan manifest, scan heat duct, scan unit. Wait for acknowledgement tone. 6) Using lift assist, place unit on assembly fixture. (Optional) 7) Lock unit in place on fixture. 8) Rotate fixture. 9) Attach heat duct using supplied screws and electric driver. (Note: Hush panel is NOT scanned.) 11) Electric tool has LED lights on the handle. All lights will go to green when screws reach required torque settings. (Min. 1.5 nm) 12) If reject occurs (torque is wrong), buzzer sounds. Reverse nuts and tighten nuts again. Notify Supervisor if reject continues. 13) Rotate the assembly fixture to the upright position. 14) Review completed unit against manifest. If correct, mark the last 3 digits of the CSN on the body of the assembled unit. 15) Unlock the assembly fixture. 16) Move the completed unit to the appropriate drawer of the sequence rack. 17) MAKE SURE THAT THE UNIT IS PROPERLY SEATED IN THE SEQUENCE RACK AND THAT THE UNIT IS CLEAR WHEN CLOSING THE TOP. 18) Repeat steps 6 – 16 for each unit on the manifest.
