JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Youth Sessional Workers Department: My Leisure Direct Reports: Transitions Manager Main Job Functions: To assist the Lead Youth Worker in running enjoyable and engaging activities either as part of a group or one to one. To encourage understanding and respect in an environment that promotes fun and purpose within the lives of each young person/young adult. To support each individual to develop their social skills and explore different ways of communicating. Support the group to develop their thinking and behaviour in a way that encourages an inclusive environment. Using a range of creative techniques and materials, support young people/young adults to express themselves and develop their potential. To provide effective and appropriate communication with parents/carers as required. To celebrate positive changes in the lives of young people/young adults and use the information to recognise progress. Work as part of a team and as an individual to provide a safe environment. Report any Health and Safety or Safeguarding concerns to the relevant service manager. (NB In addition to these responsibilities, employees are required to carry out such other duties as may reasonably be required). Main Duties - Knowledge a) Maintain and develop knowledge of equality and diversity. b) Acquire an understanding of and remain compliant with relevant policies and procedures including equality and diversity, health and safety, data protection and safeguarding. c) Knowledge of current youth trends and issues that are important to young people and young adults. d) To attend all mandatory training required for the role. Main Duties – Service Delivery a) Support the Lead Youth Worker and local service manager to ensure the service is delivered to agreed standards. b) To deputise in the absence of the Lead Youth Worker or during busy periods taking responsibility for access to premises, maintaining records, collection of monies and parent/carer communications. c) Complete relevant documentation upon request in line with the data protection act including records that support service delivery and the health, safety and protection of vulnerable children and adults. d) Provide cover at alternative locations to regular place of work in agreement with local service manager. e) Where applicable deliver personal care to those who require support with dignity and respect. N.B. this is a requirement that applies in certain locations only. a) Take responsibility for submitting timesheets for hours worked and records of absences within required timescale. Note: To safeguard the health, well-being and safety of the customers we work with, some of whom may be classed as vulnerable people or adults at risk. In the event of a risk to a customer becoming apparent or if concerns arise about a vulnerable person’s welfare, to immediately report these concerns in line with the appropriate policy and procedure.
