TheManagerTrainingProgrammeoftheFederalMinistryofEconomicAffairsandEnergyisaprogrammebasedonthebillateralagreementsbetweenGermanyandpartner-countries.Theprogramme is inanced by the Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Energy, who commissioned GIZ
(DeutscheGesellschaftfü rInternationaleZusammenarbeitGmbH)toactasgeneralprogrammemanagerontheGermanendoftheprogramme. The Manager Traininf Programme an instrument to promote foreign trade and is applied here to
intensify economic relations between Germany and partner-countries. It is designed to promote
smallandmedium-sizedenterprises(SME)inparticular.
Underthe"FitforPartnershipwithGermany"motto,itgetsexecutivesfromEasternEurope,Asia,
NorthernAfricaandMexicoreadytoinitiatebusinessandeconomicpartnershipswithGerman
irms–successfullyforbothsides.Todateatotalmorethan8,000executivesfrom irmswithforeigntradepotentialhavecompletedtheManagerTrainingProgramme.Onaverage,eachgroupof
20participantsestablishescontactwithatotalof60mostlymedium-sizedGerman irms.
Thesuccessoftheprogrammeisduetojusttherightbalancebetweendevelopingnewskillsand
businesspractice.Ininteractiveandpractice-orientedtraining,youlearnabouttheparticularsof
theGermanbusinesscultureandimproveyourbusinessconductandnegotiatingtechniques.Visits
to irmsfromavarietyofbranchesprovideillustrativeexamplesofGermanbusinesspractice.You
gain irst-hand,practicalknowledgeofGermancompaniesandhavetheopportunitytobecomefamiliar with modern technology and equipment. You also establish direct contact with potential
businesspartners.Theprogrammeoffersallparticipating irmsaccesstobusinessopportunitiesin
therespectiveothermarket–awin-winsituation.

The MPhas shownimpressiveresults,clearlydemonstrating itseconomicutilitybothforparticipatingGerman irmsandinvolvedcompaniesfromour15partnercountries.
The Manager Training Programme generates lasting contacts and encourages the business elite of
tomorrow to cooperate. After returning from Germany, many participants successfully implement
restructuringandoptimisationintheirhomecompanies:diversi icationofproductionandservices,
betteruseofresources,purchasingandinternationalquali icationsareallexamplesofhowbusiness
ef iciencyhasincreasedinmanycompanies,creatingnewjobsaswell.
Theprogramme'spartnershipapproachhasmadeitparticularlypopularinpartner-countries.CurrentlytheprogrammeisofferedbasedonabilateralMemorandumofUnderstandingwith15countriesandislikelytobeexpandedtoincludemorenations.TheFederalMinistryofEconomicAffairs
and Energy has authorized the GIZ as general manager in charge of coordinating the programme.
Training is decentralised, taking place throughout Germany and run by 14 educational consortia
with close ties to business, all of whom successfully quali ied in a tendering procedure. Currently
around900foreignexecutives/companiesparticipateintheprogrammeeachyear.Afewthousand
irmsarealsoinvolvedontheGermanend.

Theinterviewisatalkonanequalbasis.Itisnotanexamandwedonotassessyourprofessional quali ications. During the interview you have a chance to make a „marketing campaign“ for your company and yourself and to present your goals for the participation
(cooperationproject)intheProgrammetotheselectioncommittee.
