“The College of Business and Economics (CBE) contributes to the society and the
business community by developing graduates with current business knowledge and
skills through relevant curricula, and encouraging the faculty to make continuous
contribution to the knowledge base by engaging in business research”.
CBE was established in 1981 to cater to the growing demand for Business
professionals in the region. It is one of the founding colleges of Qassim University.
The female wing of CBE was started in 1986. Over the years since its inception, CBE
has grown to be one of the reputed Business Schools in the Kingdom. More than
3500 students have graduated from CBE so far, and many of them are playing
leading roles in reputed organizations.

FOREWORD BY THE DEAN
Thank you for your interest in our MBA program. The mission of
the MBA program is to develop graduates with high level of
business skills and knowledge that will enable them to make
valuable contribution to the business community and to the society
at large. The quality of our programs is acknowledged by the
government of Saudi Arabia, employers and students.
I am happy to inform you that Qassim University is one of the
only 3 Saudi Universities that have been nationally accredited by
the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and
Assessment (NCAAA). CBE is also pursuing the prestigious AACSB
accreditation that is applicable for Business Schools and we have
made significant progress in this direction so far.
In addition to quality of education, our students have also
testified to the other values of CBE, namely originality,
transparency, justice, creativity, teamwork and integrity.
Adherence to these values in the MBA program has produced

MASTER OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION (MBA) PROGRAM
The Master of Business Administration Program (MBA) offered by the College of
Business and Economics is one of the pioneer programs at Qassim University. The
program started in the first semester of the academic year 2004-05. The main
feature of this program is the ability to combine the theoretical aspects of
Management with the best practice in the industry, which prepares students in the
functional areas of business allowing them to develop managerial skills necessary
to be effective players in the rapidly changing business environment. The program
encourages students to keep pace with the rapid developments in
information technology and contemporary business issues of globalization, ethics
and social responsibility. The diversity of our students and faculty foster a unique
learning environment and personal development opportunity. This program
aims to enhance and develop the student’s competencies necessary for an effective
management of organizations to ensure sustainability in the public and private

CRITERIA FOR ADMISSION TO THE MBA PROGRAM
A. The applicant must have at least 3 years of work experience.
B. The applicant must possess a bachelor of business administration or an
equivalent degree studied on a full-time basis from approved universities and
colleges. Undergraduates with non-business majors may also be accepted in
the program on discretionary basis. Applicants should have a minimum
grade point average of "Very Good (3.75 out of 5)" in their bachelor degree
program. However, in some cases, applicants with GPA of "Good (3 to 3.75)"
may be accepted if (i) they have a Very Good score in the subjects of their
undergraduate major or (ii) if they have exceptional level of work experience.

C. The applicant should have the following Eligibility scores in competitive
examinations: a score of at least 450 in the TOEFL or Band 4 in the IELTS, or
67 in STEP.
D. The applicant must pass the examinations and interviews conducted by CBE.
E. The applicant should have a satisfactory score in the aptitude test conducted
by the National Center for Assessment in Higher Education or in the GMAT
exam.
DURATION OF STUDY
The program duration is of four semesters (two years).
DEGREE OFFERED
Students will be offered Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree after
successful completion of the program.
PROGRAM STRUCTURE
A. The coursework consists of 45 credit hours, 33 hours as core courses and 12
hours as Elective courses.
B. In addition to the above coursework, the student is expected to complete the
pre-requisite undergraduate courses as mentioned below, if required by the
college, during the course of the MBA program:
1. Principles of Management and Organization.
2. Principles of Financial Accounting.
3. Business Statistics (1).
4. Introduction to Micro Economics.
5. Business Communication.
PROGRAM COMPLETION CRITERIA
The student must fulfill the following eligibility criteria for award of the MBA
degree:
A. The student must successfully complete the total coursework including prerequisites specified by CBE, if any.
B. The final Cumulative GPA of the student should be no less than "Very Good
(3.75)".

530 MKT, Strategic Marketing (3Cr.)
The course enables students to review and integrate marketing concepts. It teaches
a critical evaluation of marketing related issues in hyper competitive business
environments. Students will develop new perspectives for creating innovative
marketing strategies.
531 BUS, Strategic Management (3Cr.)
This capstone course is designed to expose students to the many facets of strategy
which determine why certain companies outperform their competition and gain
sustainable competitive advantage. Major focus is on strategy formulation,
implementation and critical evaluation.
532 POM, Production and Operations Management (3Cr.)
The integration of transformation activities of firms to produce goods and services
and the information systems that link these processes are the focus of the course.
Students learn how to critically analyse and apply the transformation activities to
produce quality products and services to customers’ satisfaction.

The course provides a coherent conceptual framework for understanding ecommerce. It emphasizes the three major driving forces behind e-commerce:

resource management and the challenges in the 21st century, especially after the
applications of total quality management and the re-engineering approach. It

The course focuses on the primary tasks of the corporate treasurer, showing
students how to use ratio analysis to assess corporate performance and project

Prof. Robert Dixon
Prof. Robert Dixon is the Dean of Durham University Business School.
He is an accomplished scholar and has rich experience in education
management and accreditations. Prof. Dixon has been closely
associated with Qassim University and CBE in particular. He is a source
of constant guidance to CBE in the development and improvement of
academic programs, faculty development and accreditations.
Prof. John Emery
Prof. John Emery is the Dean of California State University Business
School at Bakersfield (CSUB), California, USA. He has a long experience
of over 5 decades in the Education field. Prior to CSUB and he has
worked with Louisiana Tech University and the University of Texas as
the Dean of the college of Business Administration and as a Grader
with the prestigious CFA Institute. Prof. Emery’s research interest and
expertise lie in Real Estate Finance. He has been instrumental in
establishing the collaboration of CSUB with CBE. Prof. Emery is a great
source of inspiration and guidance to the CBE team in academics and
research.
Dr. Belal Kaifi
Dr. Belal A. Kaifi holds a Master’s degree in Public Administration and a
Ph.D. in Education from the University of San Francisco. Furthermore,
he has completed a Post-Doctoral Program in Business Administration
with an emphasis on Management and Marketing at the University of
Florida. Dr. Kaifi is a Fulbright Specialist and has over ten years of
combined experience in teaching, education management, consulting,
and researching. Dr. Kaifi has published three books and over 30 peer
reviewed articles. Dr. Kaifi visits CBE to conduct specialized training
programs and also contributes in curriculum development activities.

Mr. Jay Thompson
Dr. Jay Thompson is a Lead Business Consultant at California State
University Business School, Bakersfield, USA. He is considered as an
expert in promoting and supporting small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs). Dr. Jay has made significant contribution to the development
of SMEs in the California region. He is guiding CBE is developing the
necessary infrastructure and skills to support the SMEs in the region.
Prof. Mohammed Nadeem
Dr. Mohammed Nadeem is a Professor of Business and an expert in
Strategic & Global Marketing Management at the National University,
California, USA at MBA and Ph.D. levels. Professor Nadeem, a
"Fulbright Specialist", holds PhD (Business) from UIU, Cincinnati, Ohio
and PDP (Marketing) from Harvard University. He is an expert in Case
study development and Case based teaching. Dr. Nadeem's research
explores customer loyalty and satisfaction issues, impact of social
media on consumer decisions, and effective marketing strategies of
firms. Dr. Nadeem mentors the CBE faculty and students in developing
and using cases in Business Education.
Prof. Yusoff Rushami
Prof. Rushami is the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Dean of College of
Business Management of Universiti Utara, Malaysia. He earned his
MBA from Western Illinois University, USA and Ph.D. from the
Management Center at University of Bradford, UK. Prof. Rushami has
rich experience in Industries and Academia and he has published his
research on Technology Management and Organizational Performance
in several reputed journals. He has been closely associated with CBE in
driving several initiatives in faculty development, student exchange and
academic accreditation.
CBE strives to bring contemporary business knowledge to its
faculty and students by inviting distinguished academicians every
year. This year also CBE has invited several reputed scholars to

SCHOLARSHIPS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS
Qassim University is keen to attract top quality international students to study in its
various postgraduate programs. They may be offered scholarships if they satisfy
the necessary requirements.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants who wish to be considered for scholarship awards at Qassim University
should fulfill these requirements:
A. Applicants must not exceed 30 years of age for Masters Programs, and 35
years of age for PhD programs. Council of the University can decide on any
exceptions of this rule.
B. Applying online at the registration timings specified and announced by the
Deanship of Graduate Studies.
C. Applicants should meet all the program's admission conditions including
TOEFL and other tests if any.
D. Submitting at least two recommendation letters from the applicant’s
previous professors.
E. Applicants must be medically fit and of good conduct.
F. Approval of Ministry of Higher Education.

"Success does not come by suddenly". It is a statement that has been corroborated
in MBA program in Qassim University. This master’s degree adds a lot, it combines
the main axes of the various administrative sciences. It builds a lot of learner
aspects physiological, behavioral and cognitive.
The MBA of Qassim University deals with the science on the main two-dimensional.
The first dimension is about quantities of information and science, the second
dimension regards the methodology of thinking and the scientific basis for it and
then relates that to the best practices and applies it to case studies. This moves

Through my studying MBA degree, I gained a lot of competencies and improved

Hala Srour
Before starting studying, I heard a lot of things from others, but I couldn’t evaluate
a thing until I’ve actually started studying. As a level 1 student, I still haven’t
experienced a lot but so far, I’m pleased with how diverse the work in the classes is.
It’s not only about exams, but also some diverse assignments. I’m pleased also with
how presentations will improve communication and presenting skills. Group work
as well is another source of learning how to organize the work in a group. Also
looking forward to improving discussion skills through discussions in classes.

Master's program [MBA] at CBE offers a learning experience and high
academic level in the field of Business Administration, where it presented to me the
opportunity to complete my studies and improve my education and scientific
knowledge. It also provided me with basic knowledge in the field of business and

ACADEMIC AND INDUSTRY COLLABORATIONS
Qassim Chamber of Commerce, Saudi Arabia
The Qassim Chamber of Commerce and Industry (QCCI) is a local organization of
businesses and companies in Buraidah with the intention to develop and further
the interests of local companies and businesses in Saudi Arabia. Members of QCCI
are usually international and local companies, such as lawyers, property
developers, tourism companies, airlines, manufacturing companies, import and
export businesses, banks, finance companies, legal advisors, IT and electronics
manufacturers etc. Some International companies with offices in Saudi Arabia are
also members of QCCI. The main activities of QCCI are: safeguarding business
interests of member companies, facilitating sharing of business experiences, liaison
with the government bodies, civil society, local media and the press, and organizing
trade shows and events. QCCI helps CBE in collaborating with the local industries in
working on projects of common interest.

Unayzah Investment Company, (UIC), Saudi Arabia
The College of Business and Economics (CBE) at Qassim University in Saudi Arabia
entered into an agreement with Unayzah Investment Company (UIC) for
establishing and supporting Small and Medium Enterprises in the region. The
Community Partnerships Unit at CBE will work closely with UIC to identify budding
entrepreneurs and provide guidance and support in various areas like finance,
technology adoption, business planning and operations. Dr. Obaid Al-Motairy, the
Dean of CBE expressed that this collaboration is expected to give a strong boost to
the SMEs in the region.
California State University, Bakersfield, USA
CBE also entered into a collaborative agreement with the College of Business at
California State University, Bakersfield, USA to facilitate academic and business
research cooperation. The activities will involve joint research projects,
collaborative running of courses and faculty & student exchange.
Dr. Obaid is optimistic that these initiatives will not only enhance the reach of CBE
to the other institutions and industry, but the learning from the collaborative
projects will also bring about qualitative improvement in the Business education in
the region.
Al Rass Chamber of Commerce, Saudi Arabia
Meeting was held between Community Partnerships Group of CBE and Al Rass
Chamber of Commerce in January 2014 to discuss collaborative projects of mutual
interest.

CAREER DAY
CBE organises career day at the campus a few times in the year as part of student
employability. Career day enables students to learn about different careers and
vocations. Employers of interest which are considered to be a good match for CBE’s
education and student’s career expectations attend a career day event to increase
visibility of their organisations, illustrate the benefits of employment in their
organisations, and to provide information to CBE students about entry-level jobs

OTHER ACTIVITIES
Innovation Club
CBE has initiated an Innovation Club (CBE_IC) to promote innovation and
entrepreneurship among students. Participants include students and faculty from
different areas and partners from reputed institutions and industries in the region.
CBE-IC cherishes an informal atmosphere to facilitate free flow of ideas among the
participants. The activities of the Innovation Club include meetings with students
and other members to discuss the innovation proposals, arranging Training
programs, developing and implementing Business plans, mentoring of students by
faculty members and networking with other Colleges and Universities, Financial
Institutions, Government bodies, Consulting firms etc.
Sports
CBE strongly believes in all-round development of its students, and encourages
their active participation in all sports. The Students’ club of CBE organizes annual
sports event in which there is enthusiastic participation by the students. CBE
students also participate in inter-collegiate sports events of Qassim University.

Qassim University Library Services
With over 400,000 volumes and 186,000 titles (books, periodicals etc.) in stock, and
particular strengths in business, finance and marketing; Qassim University Library
Services have one of the largest collections of books pertaining to business
anywhere in the region. The quality and currency of our stock are monitored
periodically to maintain the most relevant, reliable and rewarding titles which
supplement learning and support research. Articles are available from our online
provision, e-library, accessible through the University’s Virtual Learning
Environment.
