Description
Lowell's DX104-T Series backboxes are acoustically engineered for professional sound installations where the highest
quality sound reproduction and fidelity must be attained.
These acoustically treated volume backboxes are designed
specifically to allow 4" loudspeakers to operate at optimum
loading level and to achieve improved low frequency
response with rich, full bass.
Models DX104-T and DX104-10T are 10" Dia. x 6.75"D and
10.063"D respectively with an additional 3/8" flange and torsion receptacles for attaching torsion grille Model CN-4, CN4M or WB-4T (order separately). All are fabricated of welded
22 gauge steel and undercoated to eliminate acoustic and
metallic resonance. Additionally, each model is lined with 1.5"
thick batted lining with a density rating of 1.5 pounds to neutralize undesirable resonance in the high frequency range.
For conduit access, models are furnished with four combination 1/2 - 3/4" knockouts. For installation convenience, four
flexible mounting straps are positioned at 90 degree intervals.
To facilitate suspended ceiling installation and to distribute
the combined speaker and backbox weight to the ceiling grid,
backbox Model DX104-T and DX104-10T may be used with
tile bridge Model LBS4-DX or SS Series channel rails in 24”,
30”, or 48” lengths (order separately).

The recessed backbox for 4" speaker shall be acoustically treated Lowell Model ___(DX104-T, DX104-10T).
Backbox shall be fabricated of welded 22 gauge steel
undercoated to eliminate acoustic and metallic resonance. It shall be lined with 1.5" thick batting with a density rating of 1.5 lbs to neutralize undesirable resonance
in the high frequency range. Model (shall / shall not be)
furnished with four combination 1/2-3/4" knockouts
spaced at 90 degree intervals. It shall include four flexible
mounting straps at 90 degree intervals. Backbox shall
include torsion receptacles to mount Lowell torsion grille
Model ______(CN-4, CN-4M, WB-4T). For suspended
ceiling applications, tile bridge Model LBS4-DX or channel rail Model ___ (SS24, SS30, SS48) shall be used.

Lowell offers a selection of 4" speaker drivers with optional 70V or 25V
transformer for distributed music and voice paging. Popular 4" drivers
include Model 4A30 (30W coaxial - 1.75 lbs w/o xfmr) and JR410 (15W
high compliance cone - 1.7 lbs w/o xfmr).
