Job Summary: The College of Veterinary Medicine (CVM) at Kansas State University invites applications and nominations for t h e
position of Associate Dean for Academic Programs and Student Affairs.
Qualifications:
The successful candidate must have a DVM from an AVMA
COE accredited institution and experience at associate
professor or professor level in a college of veterinary
medicine. Candidates must have had educational and
leadership experience in a college or school of veterinary
medicine. Other qualifications include demonstrated
administrative skills, commitment to excellence in
professional veterinary medical education, understanding of
diversity and inclusion, and willingness to lead new and
ongoing innovative education programs and teaching methods.
Applicants or nominees should be eligible for appointment at
the rank of Associate Professor or Professor (clinical or tenure
track). Additionally, the successful candidate should have the
ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff,
and faculty; documented skills in oral and written
communication, human relations, and creative problem
solving skills.

Responsibilities:
The Associate Dean is administratively responsible for all
matters related to the professional degree (DVM)
curriculum and student affairs. The Associate Dean will
be expected to assert a leadership role in curriculum
development and innovation. The Associate Dean will
have oversight of the infrastructure for programs related to
student learning (admissions, curriculum, graduation), and
documentation of academic department and college
program reviews, including those required by the Board of
Regents, Department of Education, AVMA-COE, and U.S.
Higher Education Learning Commission. The individual
will serve on the Dean’s Leadership and Administrative
Council which advises the Dean in projects and planning
for the College.
The Associate Dean will also oversee the student
programs/support office including academic standards,
student resources and academic IT/student laptop support
and related budget and personnel management. The
Associate Dean will also be responsible for enrolling
professional degree students in the DVM degree
curriculum, provide support to college committees
involved in academic standards, curriculum and ethical
behavior. The Associate Dean will also be expected to
represent the College of Veterinary Medicine as a member
of University Committees involved in academic policies
and represent the college as a liaison to the university
Office of Student Financial Assistance and the Office of
Student Access (disabilities). The Associate Dean will
also be expected to coordinate the Veterinary Career
Development Course and will supervise all personnel
assigned to their office and oversee the College Library
