RESTORED AFTER
A SEVERE STORM
Restoring power after a major outage involves much more than reconnecting a few power lines
and flipping a switch. First we correct the most critical situations, restoring power to hospitals,
fire, police and essential citywide systems. We then work to restore power to the largest number
of customers affected at one time by making repairs to stations or major feeder lines, followed
by smaller neighbourhoods, streets and individual homes or businesses. The accompanying
illustration shows how power restoration is prioritized after a major event, such as an ice storm.

We are responsible for repairing or
replacing the wire that comes from the
street to your home.
STANDPIPE OR MAST
If the hardware and cables running from
the connection point down the side of
your house and into your home becomes
damaged, you must have it repaired by
a licenced electrician before we can
restore service.
CONNECTION POINT
The connection point, owned by Toronto
Hydro, is where our equipment ends and
yours begins.
ELECTRIC METER
We are responsible for your meter and will
replace or repair it as needed.
