A. A., F.I.F.S.I, Professor of Eminence and Head of the department, Food Science and Technology. He was formerly Deputy Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi and Director Central Institute of Fisheries Technology, Kochi. He served as Chief Technical Advisor to Philippines Government for FAO of the UN and also expert of FAO in Bangladesh and UN Mission Member in Sri Lanka. He did Post Doctoral Research in Natural Resources Institute, London and did advanced training in Retort Pouch Processing at Metal Box, U. K. He has authored over 300 Research papers, 14 Books and successfully guided 15 students in various disciplines of Food science and Technology. He is the recipient of Nation’s top Agricultural Award, the Rafi Ahamad Kidwai award, ICAR team Research Award, SOFTI award, SL. Hora Gold Medal, and most prestigious International Award, The Kwarizimi International Award from the President of the Islamic Republic of IRAN. In 2013 he received the prestigious VASVIK international industrial award of Rs. 1 lakh with citation for contributions to Agricultural Research from VASVIK foundation, Mumbai. Areas of research: Biochemistry, Microbiology, Seafood Processing, Fishery byproducts, Enzymes, fatty acids and lipids. Other important positions held by Prof. K. Gopakumar are: 1. Member of Research Advisory Committee of Central Institute for Fisheries Education. 2. Executive Council Member, National Academy of Agricultural Sciences. 3. Chairman of Research Advisory Committee of National Fund for Basic Research, ICAR – Central Institute for Research on Cotton Technology (CIRCOT), Mumbai. 4. Member of selection committee of Agricultural Scientist Recruitment Board (ASRB) for ICAR institute Director recruitment.
