MODEL TYPE F3 SPECIFICATIONS
General:
Provide Vulcan steel panel radiators, per mechanical drawing layouts, of lengths for locations indicated, and of
capacities, style and having accessories as scheduled. The dual header, dual flat tube panel radiators will be an
integral welded steel panel assembly and consist of flattened water tubes welded to square tube headers at each
end. The panel radiator is available with an optional integral heavy gauge (0.075" minimum) all-welded perforated
top grille. The F3 model will have steel corrugated fins welded to the inside surfaces of the flat panel tubes plus
a third set of corrugated fins welded to the rear side of the rear flat panel tube to increase the convective heating
output of the unit. The corrugated fins will extend into the air stream 1-1/4" from the surface of the flat tubes. The
corrugated fins shall start within 1" of the headers, and shall be spot-welded to each flat tube.
The flat panel radiator assemblies shall be available in lengths from 2'-0" to 15'-0" in two inch increments without
the use of joiner or splicing pieces, from one flat tube to ten (10) flat tubes wide. Wall mounting brackets or optional
floor pedestal brackets shall be provided with the radiation as specified. The panel radiation expansion shall not
exceed 1/64" per foot of radiation at 215°F. The installer shall provide adequate expansion compensation for each
radiator. Panel radiators shall not be used with one (1) or two (2) pipe steam systems.
The panel radiator’s headers shall include all necessary inlet, outlet and vent connections as required. Standard
connection sizes are 1/2" NPT tapered thread for supply and return piping, and 1/8" for the vent connection.
Internal baffling is provided where required for proper water flow. Consult factory for optional 3/4" NPT threaded
connections.
The panel radiation shall be manufactured in the U.S.A.
Pressure Ratings:
Pressure ratings for the radiation shall be as follows:
Standard: Working pressure-85 PSI maximum, Test Pressure-110 PSI maximum
Finishes:
The panel radiation shall be cleaned in a plaforization cleaning process in preparation for the powder coat finish.
The radiation is then painted with a gloss powder coat finish, for a total paint thickness of 2-3 mils (0.002" 0.003"). The color shall be selected from the standard Vulcan Radiator Commercial Color Chart or, at an additional
cost, from the Vulcan Architectural Color Selector.
Warranty:
All Vulcan panel radiators have a Five (5) Year Limited Warranty.
Manufacturer:
Subject to compliance with requirements, provide flat tube panel radiation as manufactured by Vulcan Radiator, a
division of Mestek, Inc.
