Jet range Butterfly Valves have a reputation for delivering
well designed, quality engineered, user-friendly products
for industrial and commercial applications.
Features
Polyacetal stem bearing
NBR (Buna-N) or
EPDM O-ring
ISO90001:2000
Stainless steel stem
Valves and actuated packages are designed,
manufactured and assembled under ISO9001:2000
Ductile iron body with
protective paint coating
Valves with EPDM seats have WRAS approval.
Water Regulations Advisory Scheme (WRAS) is the
UK Water Industry’s approval scheme. Products
approved by the scheme have been shown to comply
with the requirements of the Water Supply
(Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and amendments.
All Valves Comply with the 'ATEX Equipment
Directive' 94/9/EC. Atex is the European Community
Directive covering equipment intended for use in
potentially exposive atmospheres.

NBR (Buna-N), EPDM
or HT-EPDM seat firmly
molded-in (bonded)
to valve body
Ductile iron with ENP or
stainless steel disc
Zinc die-cast plug with
chromate coating
Bonded Seals
Moulded-in (bonded) seat construction is used throughout the range. This assures
maintenance free liners and allows trouble-free use on high velocity (up to 4m/s) and vacuum
service.
Spherical Seat and Disc Design
Valves are CE marked to PED 97/23/EC where
allowed or comply under Sound Engineering Practice
for use with Groups I and II Gases and Liquids,
subject to compatibility of materials of construction
with line fluid.
Integral ISO 5211 Actuator Mounting Flange
The ISO mounting flange allows simple addition of electric or pneumatic actuators, in most
cases mounted directly onto the valve.

Valve seats are of a spherical design where they contact the top and bottom stems,
prolonging valve life.

Low Valve Operating Torque
The low torque design contributes to the valves extended working life and permits the use of
smaller actuators, bringing the benefit of savings in both initial purchase price and energy
consumption.
Emission-free Stem Sealing Mechanism
Tight contact between the disc and seat, combined with a rubber O-ring assembled around
the top stem ensures that the risk of external leakage is minimised.
End of Line Service
Jet range butterfly valves retain their full pressure
rating when used in a dead end (end of line) service
with the downstream flange removed (on fully-lugged
valves). A downstream flange is recommended when
continuously used in a dead end service for more
than 96 hours.
Warning
During the manufacturing process, lubricants are applied
to discs and seats to protect their surfaces, they cannot
be used for paint, oxygen or similar processes without
being degreased to an appropriate standard.
Introduction
Orientation
Valves can be installed in any orientation, however,
when used with viscous liquids, they should be
positioned with the stem horizontal and the disc
opening in a downstream direction.

The Jet Range
The Jet range
With a choice of body styles, seat materials, optional accessories, manual and automated
operators, we have a versatile range of valves to suit most applications.

Valves with EPDM Seats
Manually operated gearboxes are standard
for 250mm and 300mm valves. They are
an alternative to levers on valves up to
200mm where their multi-turn action
ensures that they can be neither opened
nor closed too quickly for a particular
process or service. They are additionally
used to ease operation on viscous
services.
Our gearboxes are lightweight, compact,
colour-matched to the valves and have
position indicators on top of their casing.
Stem Extensions
Stem extensions, with or without guide
brackets and/or universal joints are
available upon request.
Electric Actuation
We can supply either on/off or modulating
actuators for any voltage, fitted to any
quarter-turn valve. Actuators are designed
and built to the same exacting standards as
our valves.Turn to page 8 for more details.

Chainwheels
Handwheels can be modified and supplied
with chainwheels for operation of high-level
valves from below upon request.
The simplest and most economic method of
operation, offering quick quarter-turn action.
Our levers can be locked into any of ten
positions by passing the hasp of a padlock
through the hole in the lever trigger.
Manufactured from lightweight aluminium,
our levers have a bright orange finish to help
determine valve operating position where
valves are located in areas of poor visibility
or where access is difficult. Available for
valves up to 200mm.

Pneumatic Actuation
Because of their low operating torques,
Jet range butterfly valves are ideal for
automating.
We build and test actuated packages
incorporating any required accessories such
as solenoid valves, switchboxes, positioners
and manual overrides.

Electrically Actuated
Butterfly Valves
At our dedicated in-house ISO9001:2000 Valve Actuation Center, we assemble and test
actuated packages to suit a wide variety of applications. Naturally, we recommend Jet range
actuators, however we can supply Jet range valves fitted with other actuators if required.
Jet range Electric Actuators are built to exacting standards and are packed with
features including:
• Nylon GF 6.6 housing with ABS cover IP65
water and dust resistant enclosure
• Up to 50% duty rated according to CE134
• Manual override fitted as standard
• 4 adjustable limit switches 5A rated
• Continuous position indicator on top
of cover
• Torque limiter
• Mechanical limit stops 90º
• On/Off operation as standard
ER Type Actuator
Actuator Options
• Fail safe battery backup
• 0-10V or 4-20mA modulating operation
available
• Potentiometer or 4-20mA feedback option
available
• 10W internal heater
Actuator Operating Conditions
• Ambient temperature -10ºC to +55ºC
Approximate Operating Speed

Pneumatically Actuated Butterfly Valves
Pneumatically Actuated
Butterfly Valves
We test and assemble actuated packages at
our dedicated ISO9001:2000 certified Valve
Actuation Center. We recommend Jet
range actuators,however we can supply
Jet range valves fitted with other actuators
if necessary.
• Our pneumatic actuators are of a double
rack and pinion design, with ISO 5211
mounting connections enabling simple
connection to most quarter-turn valves.
• An anti-blowout key provides a firm lock to
the pinion, minimising wear by eliminating
movement under pressure.
• Spring return actuators incorporate a
unique spring retainer construction,
offering improved safety whilst dismantling
and reassembling.
• Springs and moving parts are lifetime
lubricated, reducing maintenance costs.
• Bodies are hard anodised aluminium,
which provides better protection from
corrosion, enhanced surface hardness
and superior wear reistance.

Optional Extras
Note: Valves pictured are direct mounted, where this is not possible, a mounting kit will be used.
Actuated packages listed below have actuators sized for valves operating with a clean liquid line media and
having a maximum differential pressure of 10 bar.
We would be pleased to offer solutions for alternative applications upon request.

Over-tightened bolts may adverseley effect valve performance or cause
damage to the liner, under-tightening could result in leaks between the
valve and the mating flanges.

Bolt Tightening Sequence
Valves should be in the fully open position prior to tightening the bolts.
It is recommended that two workers tighten bolts on 12 hole flanges
simultaneously. Each tightens bolt number one in quadrant A, then
number one in quadrant B before moving to number two in quadrant
A etc. until all bolts are tightened to the required torque.
