Property Board - Midas Creek Stake Effective 1/10/2016 v1.10 REM with Missionary Update for 2016 JR Property Directions South Jordan to US 89 Turnoff by Indianola Created on May 28, 2015 · By Rich Morrey Updated 1/10/2016 JR Property Directions – Portion from US 89 to JR Property along Lake Canyon Road Effective Jan 10, 2016 REM JR Property Directions from US89 Created on Jul 15, 2009 · By Rich Morrey · Updated Jan 10, 2016 (Important: Please disregard the Google Maps suggestion that it is only 13 minutes from the highway. This is a gravel and dirt road and driving time is more. More like 20-25 minutes) After you pass the road on your left that goes to the little town of Indianola… watch for milepost marker 295 on the left of the road. (The numbers will be descending as you drive south.) Go exactly 0.3 mile south past the milepost marker. You’ll be looking for the turnoff to your right that is marked with the “Big Horn Ranch Association” and “J.R. Property” signs. This road is called "Lake Canyon Road - 34750 North" Travel directly west along this gravel road for about 1 mile. When you’re about to the gate, the road turns 90 degrees directly north for the last little bit. The Lower Gate is a double swing, green metal gate with a dangling chain collection that looks like a Marley’s Ghost creation. If the gate is locked, you’ll find the combination lock in the protected metal box in the center. The combination lock to open the gate is tricky. If you can’t reach the combination, thread some more links into the box through the slot. Enter the combination and push the lock and bar together in order to pop it free. If it doesn’t open on the first try, start over by spinning all of the tumblers to a different number. The combination code for 2016 is 5151. (The combination is changed each fall for the hunting season and next year) Please make sure the gate is closed and locked after you pass unless there is traffic behind you. The last vehicle in the group must lock the gate as there are range cattle in the area. Drive westward for about 4.4 miles up the winding road to the JR Property. There’s another gate called the “Upper Gate” which is just before the Property. This "upper" gate is often left open during the busy summer months. JR Property Directions – Portion from US 89 to JR Property along Lake Canyon Road Effective Jan 10, 2016 REM Should the upper gate be locked for any reason, the upper gate combination code for 2016 is 0160. Again, please remember to close the gates behind you. It is a total of 4.4 miles from the lower gate to the "Area 1" sign on the JR Property campsite. Drivers should be informed that the roads from the lower gate to the JR Property are somewhat rocky and dusty. They are graded each spring before the girls camps start so reasonably high clearance automobile traffic is usually ok unless the roads are slippery from rains. The advised speed limit is 10 mph. Driving in excess of 10 mph can cause damage to the road and vehicle. Also be on the lookout for traffic coming off the mountain.
