Kelly Dear Families, Let’s celebrate summer! It is a wonderful time for families and for keeping youth engaged. During the summer, math and reading skills learned in school can fade unless students are involved in interesting activities that reinforce those skills. The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is pleased to provide funding support to nonprofits operating programs and to bring providers together during the year to explore strategies for delivering quality programs that build both academic and youth development skills. Many parents look for summer programs that will engage their children to learn and have fun at the same time. We are proud to continue to publish this directory in collaboration with the Hartford Public Schools to provide information about summer school and other local programs, including programs for persons with special needs. Many of the summer programs listed in this directory are free or offer reduced fees, so we encourage parents to ask about financial assistance. We also invite parents, and other adults looking for support in developing their job skills and connecting to training or employment, to review the workforce development opportunities included in the back of this directory.
