Vice President, Membership
Position Summary:
The Vice President, Membership provides leadership and support in developing and delivering the
strategy, advice, counsel and service necessary to significantly grow and maintain membership.
Responsibilities:

Provide the vision and leadership necessary to support the core business strategy and mission of
ATD CIC in order to:

Increase membership and the retention of members
Develop a collaborative working relationship with the other board positions and ensure that
membership campaigns and support systems are integrated with program development
− All membership campaigns and systems must reflect the organization’s priorities and
respond to the existing and anticipated needs of members
Qualifications:

High level communication and persuasive skills in order to assist in “selling” vision, processes and
programs to help increase membership locally including reaching and/or expanding into markets not
served or are currently underserved (i.e. student outreach, university outreach, etc.)
Demonstrated experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork,
collegiality and self-motivation were necessary for success
Previous membership-based organizational experience preferred
Skilled in written and verbal communication, personal interaction and problem-solving
Ability to plan, organize and execute activities as required by the position
Ability to complete projects within established timeframes, delegate tasks and monitor followthrough
Be available to fully participate in chapter programs and board meetings
Have a willingness to advocate the chapter and seek others out as volunteers
Must be a national member of ATD and a member in good standing with ATD CIC
Recruitment and Training:
• Recruits and trains incoming Director of Membership and the Director of Networking
• Recruits and trains incoming Vice President, Membership
• Constantly updates personal knowledge of ATD strategies and operations

Qualifications:

Commitment to the chapters’ Mission, Vision, Strategy, and Goals
•
Skilled in written and verbal communication, personal interaction and problem-solving
•
Ability to plan, organize and execute activities as required by the position
•
Must be a national member of ATD and a member in good standing with ATD CIC
•
Ability to complete projects within established timeframes, delegate tasks and monitor followthrough
•
Be available to fully participate in chapter programs and board meetings

Time Commitment and Board Participation:
•

Term: Two years
Estimated Time Requirements per month:
− Attending board meetings: 2 hours plus travel time
− Attending membership committee meetings: 1-2 hours plus travel time
− Attending monthly chapter meetings: 3 hours plus travel time
•
Communicating with administrative office about routine issues: 2-4 hours Partners with other
committees (marketing, programs) to highlight the value to becoming a member
•
Attends and participates in all monthly board meetings and chapter programs
•
Tracks new, renewed, and expired memberships and reports to board on a monthly basis
•
Participates in other chapter events, committee meetings, and conferences as available
•
Represents chapter professionally and ethically in all business functions/organizational activities
