Digital Cabin Temperature Controller
MSM2891-xx-x
w / Temperature Sensor TS-102
Product Description
The MSM2891-xx-x Digital Cabin Temperature Controller with
the TS-102 Temperature Sensor is a thermostatic control system
for the cabin environment.
The digital temperature system
includes a digital control module that interfaces with the aircraft
temperature system and the solid state temperature sensor.
The MSM2891-xx-x provides data bus logic, digital pot, and
input for up to eight temperature sensors. The control module
processes and averages readings from the sensors to provide an
average temperature reading for the cabin area. A minimum of
four sensors is recommended for a basic system. Additional
sensors provide better resolution of the cabin temperature reading.
The “-xx” in the model number designates the potentiometer output
resistance value necessary for the specific aircraft configuration.
The pot value is customer specified to match the specific
heating/cooling system. The “x” suffix denotes the type of
connector utilized.
The TS-102 sensor provides accurate temperature response
despite the effect of direct sunlight and areas with low air
circulation. It also provides maximized isolation, thermal transfer,
and temperature reading accuracy.
Installation Guidelines
1.
2.
Insure that all power and ground wires are 22 AWG,
minimum. Ground wires must be grounded within 12 inches
of the unit.
The MSM2891-xx-x is designed to interface with a switch
panel via the RS-485 data bus. The connection between the
sensor and control module uses a serial data stream that
sends a temperature reading made by the solid state probe.

Application Notes
1.
2.
Through the use of the TS-102 temperature probes, an
average ambient temperature indication is calculated at the
MSM2891-xx-x unit. This indication may be displayed on a
temperature control panel. The temperature value indicated
on the display panel may be specified to display in
Fahrenheit or Celsius at the time of order.
The user may choose to either increase or decrease the
ambient cabin temperature by using a temperature control
panel to change the MSM2891-xx-x potentiometer output
resistance. At no time does the unit attempt active ambient
cabin temperature regulation.
