WELCOME TO CGS 2016/17!
UPCOMING CONFERENCES GLOBAL PERSPECTIVES UPDATE
Dear Parents,
Welcome all to a fantastic new academic year at
CGS, 2016/2017!
This year will mark 24 years for CGS and over the
years we have educated hundreds of the most talented
and brightest children in Chittagong. I thank our
parents for all the valuable feedback throughout the
years that has helped us enhance our services in education and school activity to the outmost to give our
students only the best for their educational journey.
This year we have an amazing agenda planned for
our students that comprises of an Annual Cultural
Program, Annual Award Ceremonies, Orientations,
Foreign Career Counselling, many international and
in house conferences offered by our Round Square
program, Annual Athletics, Art exhibition and many
more!
As far as academics go we will be introducing a new
subject within the social studies department called
„Global Perspectives‟ (see article on right) which will
be an exciting new course for all our class 6 and 7
students to take on themselves and have fun in learning and developing their creativity skills.
For all those students that feel the pressure of academics in class 8 we are proud to introduce of
„Foundation 9‟ that will allow many of our students
in class 8 the chance to move forward with their
journey in CGS towards the „O‟ levels at ease with a
fresh academic slate, not fearing the chances of ever
leaving their academic journey with us.
So I welcome all students back on board on the CGS
locomotive towards another wonderful year!

With the participation in 18 MUN
and RS conferences in 2015 / 2016
a new record has been set. This has
created a high profile for CGS internationally
amongst schools and a momentum internally.
Resulting in a wave of invitations being extended to
us and we are now in the enviable position of targeting participation in the best of these. Of the 8
invitations in August two have been accepted. A
team of senior students will be heading to Rajmata
Krishna School in Rajasthan, India for a RS senior
conference on the theme “Latitude with Attitude”. In addition, a Middle School team will be
heading to St. Andrew‟s School in Florida, USA for
a conference themed, “Reach for the Stars”.
In the May 2016 Newsletter we outlined details of
the new course, Global Perspectives (GP), being introduced to classes 6 and 7. Subsequently we have
been preparing to launch this exciting course with:
 Developing the course framework, objectives and
assessment criteria
 Formulating guidelines for teachers of GP
 Upgrading resources, with additional multimedia facilities and time table allocation
 Workshop, training and mentoring of teachers
 Student workshops for the course
 Enlisting support and guidance from CIE
In addition to GP, the Middle School History textbooks have been changed and upgraded to more
contemporary editions and more concise syllabuses.
In classes 6 and 7 one weekly History period has
been reduced in order to allocate it to GP.
