Another summer has passed - thank you to all who volunteered and/or attended the Post functions over the summer. We look forward to cooler weather with fall and winter and the many upcoming activities. Veteran members who pay their dues annually, please be sure to pay them by the end of the year to remain a member in good standing. Consider changing your annual membership to a life membership. Life Membership cost is based SERVICE OFFICER VA Expands Review of Chemical Exposure in Drinking Water at Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune. This process is in addition to the healthcare VA already provides for 15 conditions to eligible Veterans who served at Camp Lejeune Visit us at www.vfw5265.org for at least 30 days between August 1, 1953 and December 31, 1987. VA also provides reimbursement of healthcare expenses for those 15 conditions to eligible family members who resided at Camp Lejeune during that time period. Veterans with health problems they believe are related to exposure to the water at Camp Lejeune should contact the nearest VA healthcare facility by calling 1-877-222-VETS (8387). Yours in Comradeship, Don Crumble Service Officer NEWS BRIEFS Social Member Renewals - Dues are $35 per year and are due no later than Dec. 31, 2016. You may pay your dues and receive your new membership card beginning October 1. Members who have not paid by Dec. 31 will no longer be a member and will have their post privileges suspended. If you renew your membership in January, you will be required to pay a late fee of $10. If renewing after Jan. 31, members will need to reapply for membership including the $25 application fee. Spring Grove, PA on age, refer to chart inside the newsletter and keep in mind that the Post will pay $100 of the life membership, if paid through the Post. I encourage each of you to attend the monthly meetings: veteran and home association (for all members) on the third Tuesday of the month and the auxiliary meets the last Tuesday. Veteran Day Program Our Veteran Day Program will be Friday, 11/11/16 at 8 pm in the Post Dining Room. It is a time to honor and remember the men and women who have served in the Armed Forces of this great country. They all deserve our respect and gratitude. Plan on attending on 11/11/16 at 8 pm to honor our Veterans. We are a Veterans of Foreign Wars Post -- be sure to THANK a veteran. Life Membership Anyone thinking about life membership, do it before the end of the year. We have received information that they will raise by 15% for 2017. NEVER PAY DUES AGAIN. Children's Christmas Party Please watch the TV screens at the Post in November for more details. The Party date is 12/11/16. Sub Sales Another September has passed and Fall Sub Sales have begun. Get your orders in for October and November when the time comes up. Please get orders in by 6 pm the Wednesday that they are due. This is our main fundraiser and we hope you will continue to support the VFW Auxiliary Sub Sales as you have in the past.
