IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
The existing 6" and 8" cast iron pipe (CIP) water mains along Alameda de las Pulgas between Cipriani Boulevard and
Arbor Avenue were installed in the mid-1950s and have experienced numerous water main breaks over the past several
years. The Mid-Peninsula Water District (MPWD) replaced a 320 LF section from Belle Monti Avenue to Coronet
Boulevard in recent years. The upcoming project will replace the remaining sections of water main between Cipriani
Boulevard and Arbor Avenue with new 8" ductile iron pipe (DIP), eliminating the 6" and 8" aged pipe along this road.
This project is identified among the highest priority projects within the MPWD’s Capital Improvement Program
developed in 2015 after extensive water hydraulic modeling of the entire MPWD system.
MPWD’s total estimated cost for this project is budgeted at $750,000, including engineering design, project management,
and construction. It will be funded with ratepayer revenues in Fiscal Years 2015/2016 and 2016/2017.
A community meeting will be hosted by the MPWD regarding this project on Tuesday, March 8, 2016, at 6:30 p.m.,
at the MPWD, 3 Dairy Lane, in Belmont. All ratepayers are invited to attend to learn more about the project and
interact with the project team.
