LIST OF COURSES FORM
Please read this form thoroughly, complete this form, and include it as part of your application. You will be
asked to list courses that you are interested in potentially enrolling in for each semester that you will be
attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
This is NOT A REGISTRATION FORM and is merely used to evaluate your academic expectations and
determine if Illinois is a good academic match for you. This form is NOT used to reserve enrollment in courses.
While the University will do what we can to make courses available to exchange students, Illinois cannot
guarantee enrollment in any courses, even if your home university requires you to take specific courses while
you are on exchange.
Before completing this form, you should work with your home university to find out what TYPE of courses you
should/need to take at Illinois. After that, please review the academic availability and restrictions below to
determine if Illinois is the right fit for you.
If Illinois meets your academic objectives, please go to http://courses.illinois.edu/cis/index.html and click on
“Class Schedule” to look at courses that might be available to you. If the Class Schedule for the semester that
you are applying for is not yet available, please use the previous year’s class schedule. For example, if you are
planning to attend Illinois for Spring 2012, but the Class Schedule for Spring 2012 is not available at the time of
your application, you should use the Class Schedule for Spring 2011 to complete your List of Courses.
Additional considerations when selecting courses:
•
You should enroll in courses at a variety of levels. You are strongly discouraged from taking more than
three courses at the 300-level or higher.
•
We do not recommend taking more than three courses in your major, especially in engineering and the
sciences.
•
All students must enroll in at least 12 credit hours per semester to maintain full-time status.
•
Undergraduate students are limited to courses at the 100- to 400-levels; enrollment in courses at the
500-level or higher are by permission only and permission may not be granted. Please note that certain
400-level courses are considered graduate-level courses and may not be available to undergraduate
students.
•
To facilitate academic advising, you should limit your course choices to 2-3 academic departments.
