Health and Safety Policy Statement
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 The management of health and Safety at
work Regulations 1999 and Construction Design and management (CDM)
Regulations 1994.
Our statement of general policy is:
to provide adequate control of the health and safety risks arising from our
work activities
to consult with our employees on matters affecting their health and safety
to provide and maintain safe plant and equipment
to provide information, instruction and supervision for employees
to ensure all employees are competent to do their tasks, and to give them
adequate training
to prevent accidents and work related ill health
to maintain safe and healthy working conditions; and
to review and revise this policy as necessary at regular intervals

Overall and final responsibility and day to day responsibility for health and
safety is that of Angela Brady
All employees have to:
co- operate with supervisors and managers on health and safety matters;
not interfere with anything provided to safeguard their health and safety;
take reasonable care of their own health and safety;
report all health and safety concerns to Angela Brady.
Health and safety risks arising from work activities

Health and safety risk assessments will be undertaken by Angela Brady
and the findings reported to all staff members.
Action required to remove / control risks will be approved, implemented
and checked by Angela Brady.
Assessments will be reviewed every 12 months or when the work activity
changes, whichever is soonest.
Consultation with employees

Consultation with employees is provided by the following forums:
individual annual reviews

monthly office meetings
Safe plant and equipment

Angela Brady will be responsible for identifying all plant / equipment
needing maintenance.

Angela Brady will be responsible for ensuring effective maintenance
procedures are drawn up for ensuring that all identified maintenance is
implemented.

Any problems with plant and equipment should be reported to Angela
Brady.

Angela Brady will check that new plant and equipment meets health and
safety standards before it is purchased.
Information, instruction and supervision

The Health and safety Law poster is displayed in the main office.
Health and safety advice is available from Angela Brady.
Supervision of young workers/ trainees will be arranged / undertaken /
monitored by Angela Brady.
Angela Brady is responsible for ensuring that our employees working at
locations under the control of other employers, are given relevant health
and safety information.
Competency for tasks and training

Angela Brady will provide induction training for all employees.
The partners or the project architect will provide job specific training,
decided on an individual case basis.
Specific jobs requiring special training are:
correct seating and posture at the workstation
correct use of VDU screens
health and safety aspects of site visits
Training records are kept by Angela Brady
Training will be identified, arranged and monitored by Angela Brady.
Accidents, first aid and work related ill health

Health surveillance is required for employees doing the following jobs:

The first aid box is kept at the main office.
The appointed first aid person is Angela Brady.
All accidents and cases of work- related ill health are to be recorded in the
accident book. The book is kept by Angela Brady.
Angela Brady is responsible for reporting accidents, diseases and
dangerous occurrences to the enforcing authority.
Monitoring

To check our working conditions, and to ensure safe working practices are
being followed, we will regularly consult with employees about their
working conditions and monitor their comments and we will maintain
vigilance in the office.
Angela Brady is responsible for investigating accidents.
Angela Brady is responsible for investigating work- related causes of
sickness absences.
Angela Brady is responsible for acting on investigation findings to prevent
a recurrence.
Emergency procedures – fire and evacuation

The partners check escape routes every day.
Fire extinguishers are maintained and checked annually.
