1. If you have used the system previously, go to http://reviews.sgul.ac.uk and enter your

account password).
2. If using for the first time, you will need to register an account by going to
https://reviews.sgul.ac.uk/Registration/ and follow the instructions (your username will be
the first part of your sgul email address e.g. fbloggs@sgul.ac.uk)
3. If you have forgotten your password, you can reset your password by going to
https://reviews.sgul.ac.uk/Logon/ForgottenPassword.aspx
Preparing for your personal review
Your reviewer is responsible for creating your personal review. You will receive an email notification
once they have set up the review. Your reviewer may have already discussed the date and time of
the review prior to receiving this notification. There will be a link in the email which will take you to
the personal review for you to start your preparations prior to the meeting.
If you have had a personal review in the previous year, your objectives from that review will be
carried through to the new review. You will need to fill in the relevant sections prior to prepare by
clicking on each of the tabs in the personal review. You should submit your personal review to your
reviewer at least 3 days prior the review meeting, by clicking on Submit button. Your reviewer will
receive an email to let them know that you have submitted your form.
Once the reviewer has looked at your input, you will receive an email to notify you that either:
1. The meeting is ready to go ahead; or
2. You should make some amendments to the form before the meeting can take place.
If you are required to make any amendments, you will need to re-submit the form once these have
been made. The form can go back and forth until both parties are happy with the content of the
form.
The meeting should then take place.
After the meeting has taken place
After the meeting has taken place, you should make any amendments to the form to reflect what
was discussed and agreed during the meeting. You should click on Submit, once you have done this,
which will send an email notification to your reviewer.
Your reviewer will then confirm that the form is an accurate record of the meeting and the
objectives for the year ahead. They will have the option to return the form to you if they would like
to suggest any changes.
Your reviewer will then complete the Feedback on Performance section. You will receive a
notification once this has been completed. The reviewer should provide a balanced assessment of
your performance for the preceding period. It should acknowledge your contribution to the
achievement of goals, whether personal, team or organisational. Other aspects could include:
professionalism, innovation, commitment to diversity and inclusion, contribution to wider SGUL
initiatives, proactivity, teamwork, diligence, knowledge, collaboration, management style amongst
others. It should also include an overall, concluding statement about your performance. As a record
of your contribution over a period of time, the reviewer has been advised that it should be a
minimum of 150 words.
If you do not agree with the feedback, you are able to return the form to your reviewer, indicating
why they would like feedback to be changed, by clicking on Return and selection option 3: Do not
agree with reviewer feedback (to be selected by reviewee only, post-meeting, if applicable). Your
reviewer will then have the opportunity to amend their feedback and return the form to you.
You should click on Finish, once you are happy with the contents of the form, which represents the
completion on the initial process. The objectives and development agreed should be regularly
discussed, with a formal mid-point review.
Clinical academics holding honorary consultant appointments should complete the SGUL PR and,
depending on the system in your NHS Trust, either attach the MAG form OR attach a link to the relevant
revalidation management system.
Please contact staffdev@sgul.ac.uk if you have any issues or questions about how to use the
system.
