As Erasmus student, you have the chance to choose the subjects that better join with your degree in any of the faculties of the University of the Basque Country. However, please, be advised that if you choose subjects of out of the Campus of Ibaeta (Gipuzkoa) you will have to go to that faculty (located in Bilbao, Vitoria or Eibar) and it could take you a long time. HOME LOCATION The Polytechnicl College is located in the campus of Gipuzkoa, more precisely in the campus of Ibaeta (city of Donostia-San Sebastian). HOME APPLICATION FOR ERASMUS STUDENTS STEP 1. NOMINATION BY HOME INSTITUION Application Form Learning Agreement STEP 2. ONLINE APPLICATION BY STUDENT Students that have been nominated will receive an invitation to apply through the Student Mobility Management System. At their arrival students have to submit the following documentation: 1. Copy of your passport or ID 2. Proof of Health Insurance 3. Photocopy of your enrolment form at your home university 4. 3 photos 5. University of the Basque Country enrolment form HOME THE UNIVERSITY OF THE BASQUE COUNTRY • This university is one of the most important universities in Spain in terms of the number of graduates and students. • There are more than 50,000 people, including students, teaching and administrative staff, and the University is responsible of 95% of the research in the Basque Country. HOME MEDICAL INSURANCE •Erasmus students must have their European Medical Insurance Card (E-128 or E111 form) in order to obtain free health care in Spain. •The Spanish National Health Service has signed agreements with other nonEuropean Countries’ Health Service such as Brazil, Peru, Chile, Ecuador, Uruguay, Paraguay, Morocco, etc. Before arriving to Spain, you should verify if your country is one of them, and request the corresponding documents that allows you to get access to the Sanitary Assistance of the Spanish National Health Service. •In case of doubt or if all the requirements are not fulfilled, it would be better to take a private medical insurance. For further information: Web Oficial de la Seguridad Social HOME PASSPORTS AND VISAS • EU member states’ citizens can enter Spain and stay for a period of three months upon presentation of a valid proof of identity or passport. • For longer stages, it is necessary to contact with Overseas Citizens' Office of Gipuzkoa, in order to obtain the registration on the Central Foreigner's Register. • If you are citizen of a non-European Union country, then, you must apply for a visa at the Spanish Consulate in your country before you leave home. For that purpose, they must present the UPV’s official admission document, details of the studies to undertake, ID card and medical cover certificate. However, some countries don’t require a visa for stages shorter than 90 days. These countries are: United States, Canada, Japan, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and Mexico. (please check this before departure in your home country) HOME ACCOMMODATION 1. Temporal accommodation: It is important that you make a reservation for your first couple of nights in the Basque Country at a youth hostel, pension (Spanish equivalent to a B&B) or hotel, while you find a permanent accommodation. Your experience in Donostia-San Sebastian will be enriched by a large number of activities, services and support which we can offer you. How is student-life at the Polytechnic College? Attending lectures, although it is not compulsory, will be useful to progress in your studies and also to make new friends. If you are a bachelor student, you will have lectures during the morning (from 8h to 13h) or during the afternoon (from 14:30 to 20:30). If you are a postgraduate student, you will have to attend lectures during the afternoon (from 15h to 20h).There are also different practicals where the attendance is compulsory. How will be my classmates? Most of our students are from cities and towns located near Donostia-San Sebastian, so you will have the chance to know autochthonous students. Many of them, in addition, combine their studies with work. HOME CALENDAR The course is divided into to semesters: 1st semester: from September to January 2nd Semester: from February to May At the end of both semesters, there are examinations.
