Features and Benefits
• The large transducer output signal (which simplifies processing,
minimizes the effect of measurement circuit errors, and minimizes the
amount of processing electronics required in the gauge assembly)
provides accurate pressure measurement.
• Highly repeatable sensor output under pressure and temperature
cycling provides reliable pressure data to improve production recovery
operations.
• The rugged gauge design is resistant to mechanical shock and
vibration.
• Resistance to gases and liquids produced or placed downhole—
naturally occurring (CO2, brine, H2S) or from well treatment (acids,
alkalis)—enables accurate gauge operation in demanding downhole
environments.
Tool Description
Weatherford PodPT gauges are part of the OmniWell™ Production and
Reservoir Monitoring nGauge™ family of pressure and temperature
sensing solutions. The PodPT series includes five different models built on
a common platform for ease of system integration and simplification for
management and delivery of project inventory. The multiple designs and
sensing combinations (pressure, temperature, and vibration measurement
at intake, at discharge, or at both) provide choices for meeting all
application requirements. The available models are differentiated by one
or more letters following "PodPT."
The PodPT-s series is designed for single-point pressure and temperature
measurement applications.
PodPT-mv gauges can measure vibration in addition to pressure and
temperature. Vibration measurements (in Grms) and vibration frequency
data can assist in diagnostics and proactive decision making about tubing
wear or rod parts. For both rod-pumped and gas-lift wells, the enhanced
measurement capability of the PodPT-mv gauge can be advantageous to
understand flow-induced vibrations on the production string, vibrations
caused by rod string harmonics, and vibrations that occur when specific
valves are opened.
PodPT digital electronic gauge
The PodPT-m and PodPT-d series gauges transmit a proprietary protocol
when addressed. Using an addressable scheme enables multiple gauges
to be powered and to communicate on the same, single-conductor cable.

Obtaining dual pressure and temperature measurements and optional vibration measurement in a single gauge with
PodPT-dm and PodPT-dmv gauges increases system reliability and reduces electromechanical connections and
terminations downhole. In applications where multiple measurements are required, using a single PodPT gauge to
sense dual pressures and temperatures will increase system reliability and longevity.
A comprehensive series of environmental stress testing has been performed to confirm that PodPT gauges meet
stringent criteria for thermal shock, mechanical shock, and thermal aging:
• Subassemblies: Initial electronics burn-in, cyclic temperature and pressure testing
• Gauges: Extended pressure and temperature testing over the full calibrated operating range
To screen out problematic assemblies, a series of environmental tests are conducted on 100% of PodPT systems.
