Supplement to the Request for Continued Employment dated Version 01 March 2016 to explain the reasons for limiting the employment term pursuant to § 2, section 1, sentences 1 and 2 of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG, law on fixed-term contracts in academia). Limiting the duration of employment of academic staff is only permitted if the contract is meant to “promote individual academic qualification and development” prior to or following the doctorate. It is required that the staff person acquires academic/scientific skills and competencies in the context of the contract of employment. The following qualifications are possible: 1. Qualifications prior to completing a doctorate: Completion of a doctorate – Attachment: Confirmation of a conversation about the status of the doctorate Other academic/scientific qualifications (multiple answers possible) for Procurement of Working on a research project Transfer of research results Publication of research results Acquisition and application of particular scientific methods Editorial tasks Documenting literature Preparing a research-related stay abroad or outside the university Specialist supervision of Organisational support for scientific collections Teaching assignments Obtaining additional teaching qualifications Acquiring Broadening and developing skills and experience in project and science management Professional and scientific supervision of and coordination in large laboratories, large appliances, and large experimental facilities Professional activity within the university/ Professional activity outside the university Other academic or scientific qualifications (Please note: we reserve the right to verify this, please provide a detailed description and give detailed reasons on a separate sheet of paper) Reasons substantiating the adequacy of the duration of the fixed term for the desired academic/scientific qualification (work plan and timetable): 2.
