relatedtodeathfromoverwork,or"karoshi",aphenomenonpreviously
associatedwiththelong-suffering"salaryman"thatisincreasingly
afflicPngyoungandfemaleemployees.
ClaimsforcompensaPonforkaroshirosetoarecordhighof1,456inthe
yeartoend-March2015,accordingtolaborministrydata,withcases
concentratedinhealthcare,socialservices,shippingandconstrucPon,
whichareallfacingchronicworkershortages.
HiroshiKawahito,secretarygeneraloftheNaPonalDefenseCounselfor
VicPmsofkaroshi,saidtherealnumberwasprobably10Pmeshigher,as
thegovernmentisreluctanttorecognizesuchincidents.
