EOL monitoring/supervision is the same as any standard ceiling or wall mounted device. > What devices are offered? Units are furnished standard with Wheelock UL listed devices. A list of these devices can be found on page 10 of this manual. > How do I provide power to the Conceal-Alarm devices? The Conceal-Alarm products are designed to operate directly from the NAC circuit. > Can I provide a second power supply for just the motor clutch separate from the NAC circuit connected to the device? Yes, each Conceal-Alarm product is provided with two sets of inputs, one input is for the device and the other input is for the motor clutch, these two inputs can be tied together or utilized separately. Please see wiring diagrams on page 6 > Who can order the Conceal-Alarm products? The Conceal-Alarm products are sold directly to approved Fire Alarm contractors and Fire System companies > Is there any special applications that are required to become an authorized reseller? Yes, please follow the instructions on page 12 for the quotation and order requirements and submit the required documentation as directed. 3 > What is the current draw of the Conceal-Alarm products? General rule of thumb is a maximum of 3 Conceal-Alarms per 2 amp NAC Specifically the motor and clutch draw 300 ma during the 1/2 second of operation to open the door, however both motor and clutch are inductors, initial current draw can spike to around 750ma for a fraction of a second, this peak current inrush can/could cause power supplies to shut down under the control of the over-current protections built into some power supplies. For (alarm mode only) battery calculations, the clutch is the only additional draw (plus the device itself) once the door has opened, the clutch draws 80 ma continuously while the panel is activated, if powered by a listed fire alarm panel power supply. > Is the current draw the same on all three sizes of Conceal-Alarm? i.e., FA100, FA900 and FAFX models? Yes the current draw is the same on all models. > Does the Conceal-Alarm product cause any issues with strobe synchronization? No, the motor and clutch are electronically isolated from the device itself. > I have questions about strobe synchronization with the Conceal-Alarm devices that utilize Wheelock appliances when used in conjunction with a specific panel or other appliances. Questions concerning Wheelock Appliances and Wheelock sync module(s)should be directed to the manufacture www.cooperindustries.com See: SYNCHRONIZATION (SYNC) MODULE > Is the Conceal-Alarm product listed CSFM? No, at this time this product is not California State Fire Marshal listed. > What is the purpose of the blue wire? The use of the Concealite optional supervisory dry contact (blue wire) that is included in the Conceal-Alarm design allows for fire panel monitoring of the actual full open positioning "door position" of the Conceal-Alarm rotating door. This option can provide for the individual monitoring of each Conceal-Alarm unit door position or connected in series with any number of Conceal-Alarm units for monitoring a group of door positions. An indicator light or lights as well as audible monitoring at the panel would provide the visual or audible indicator. This "door position" supervision is separate from the standard EOL supervisory system/practice. Monitoring of door position is not a UL nor an ETL requirement. 4 > Is the Conceal-Alarm a new product? How many years has this product been available? Is this product widely recognized and found to be acceptable? Conceal-Alarm is properly listed to serve fire alarm notification requirements as per NFPA 72. Conceal-Alarms' classification of use is fire alarm for UL notification devices and is appropriately listed as a notification appliance under all three of the applicable fire alarm appliance listing numbers, UL 464, UL 1480 and UL 1971. Conceal-Alarm products were initially listed to conform to testing criteria developed exclusively by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. Concealites' Conceal-Alarm product successfully met or exceeded all testing requirements. Conceal-Alarm is currently ETL listed to UL 464, UL 1480 and UL 1971 Conceal-Alarm products have been installed throughout the USA for more than 18 years. Concealites' Conceal-Alarm installations include the very highest profile and historic sites including; Courthouses, State Capitols, George Washington’s' Mount Vernon, CIA Headquarters, IMF Building and the White House. 5 Conceal-Alarm Technical information Current Draw Information: General rule of thumb is 3 Conceal-Alarms maximum per 2 amp NAC Specifically the motor and clutch draw 300 ma during the 1/2 second of operation to open the door, however both motor and clutch are inductors, initial current draw can spike to around 750ma for a fraction of a second, this peak current inrush can/could cause power supplies to shut down by the over-current protections built into some power supplies. For (alarm mode only) battery calculations the clutch is the only additional draw once the door has opened, the clutch draws 80 ma continuously while the panel is activated if powered by a listed fire alarm panel power supply. The use of the Concealite optional supervisory dry contact (blue wire) that is included in the ConcealAlarm design allows a fire panel monitoring of the actual full open positioning of the Conceal-Alarm rotating door. This option can be individually monitored per Conceal-Alarm unit door or connected in series with any number of Conceal-Alarm units. The trouble circuit that is typically in the operation of fire alarm annunciator branch circuit monitoring is separate from the optional supervisory door positioning monitoring, and is not affected by the use of the Conceal-Alarm unit. 6 Wiring Diagram #1 7 Wiring Diagram #2 8 Fire Alarm device list - Compatible Devices - List of Devices offered > Conceal-Alarm has a concealed solution for most any fire alarm device application, such as strobe, horn, speaker or combination thereof. > The Conceal-Alarm products are designed and listed to operate directly from the NAC circuit. > Fire Alarm Devices must be installed and wired into the concealed enclosure at the factory, devices cannot be installed to the rotating door assembly in the field. > Strobe Intensity (Candela settings) must be provided with the order information and strobe intensity is set to your specific requested settings at the factory, strobe intensity cannot be field selected. > The Conceal-Alarm series is available in three sizes of concealed enclosure, the size of the enclosure is largely determined by the size of the fire alarm device utilized. These three sizes cover wall and ceiling applications using strobe, horn, speaker or combination thereof, The three sizes are denoted as series FA100, FA900 and FAFX. For specifics on dimensions and further product specifications please review the product family cut sheets, FA100/FA900 and the FAFX cut sheet. 9 List of Devices offered Conceal-Alarm Quotation and Order Process Interpreting the cut sheet and determining proper part number(s) FA100, FA900 and FAFX ordering information: 11 Quotation and Ordering Procedures First time quotation and order requests from Fire Alarm contractors and Fire Alarm system companies are required to request a review for formal authorization approval to sell and/or provide Concealite products, please submit your corporate credit information and W9, please send via email to FAinfo@concealite.com.
