Class Attendance
Lecture: Although attendance is not a component of grade calculation, historically, students attending
my lectures have performed better than those who did not.

Selected lecture material will be made available on this website.
Grading
Your final grade is comprised of lecture and laboratory components and will reflect collective
performance during the entire semester. There are a total of 700 points (see below for breakdown).
The hourly and final exams will include multiple choice and short answer questions.
Although you will receive only a single grade for this course, laboratory and lecture components of the
course are evaluated separately. In order to pass this course you must:

Receive a passing grade in lab
Pass at least one hourly exam or the final exam
Lecture: four hourly exams and a cumulative final exam; the lowest grade of the first three hourly
exams will be dropped; exam IV will count in all circumstances
Laboratory: two quizzes, midterm exam, and cumulative final exam

Scaling
Grades are scaled based on the relative performance of students to each other.

Raw scores on evaluation instruments will be normalized and rescaled (Scaled Points) with a
mean of 75% correct with the highest score receiving 100% of the possible points on that
particular instrument.

Excused Absences
Absence from examination is excused only for the following reasons:

Illness verified by a doctor's note
2.
Religious holiday recognized by Rutgers University

Required travel for varsity athletics
Office Hours
My office is located in Busch Laboratory Center, Room 127.
Office hours are flexible during the summer session. I will be available in my office prior to class
activities and will remain in class following lectures and/or labs.
