Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment Assessor Position Educopia is looking for teachers, administrators, and university education faculty to become assessors for the Ohio Resident Educator Summative Assessment (RESA) this year. Selected applicants, who will be compensated and trained, will review and score the RESA, which is being administered for the first time to teachers who are in their third year of support and mentoring through the Resident Educator program. Resident Educators must successfully complete the RESA, among other requirements, to qualify for their five-year professional educator licenses. Primary Job Responsibilities Educopia is managing the administration of scoring the RESA on behalf of the Ohio Department of Education. Assessors will review and score RESA submissions by Resident Educators. Assessors will be assigned to one of the five RESA tasks for training and certification based on the need for particular skills and knowledge to score each task. Assessors may request to score more than one task, and some may be asked to train for a second or third task based on the RESA program scoring needs. Assessors may work as much time as they have available throughout the scoring window on the task for which they are certified, up to a total of 30 hours per week. More information about the RESA assessor position can be found on the RESA Assessor page of OhioRESA.com. Assessor Tasks • Complete the online training modules that cover task-specific content in addition to non-task-specific topics such as the assessment overview, bias control, and evidence collection. • Successfully pass the certification test for the assigned task (up to two attempts). • Score RESA submissions as assigned with high levels of quality and accuracy. Job Requirements • Each assessor applicant must have a minimum of five years of teaching experience in either a pre-K–12 setting or in teacher education at a college or university. Applicants with a current professional educator license or permanent teaching certificate are strongly preferred. Ohio RESA 2014-15 © 2015 Educopia 1 • Each assessor must complete online training and pass a certification test prior to scoring assessments. Assessors will be trained to review and score RESA tasks submitted by Resident Educators. Training and scoring will take place online, so assessors will not be required to travel to participate. • Each assessor must agree not to score submissions by Resident Educators whom they know. • Assessors familiar with or who have experience scoring performance-based assessments are encouraged to apply. Additional Desired Skills In addition to scoring submissions from Resident Educators who teach more general K– 12 courses, Ohio RESA assessors will also be asked to score submissions from individuals seeking professional educator licenses for less common specializations. Therefore, Educopia also seeks assessor applicants with experience and certifications in less common specializations, including: • Low-frequency foreign languages, such as Latin, Mandarin, Arabic, Russian, or ASL • Vocational and career technical fields • Students with special needs, such as emotional disturbance, visual or hearing impairments, or intellectual disabilities, and English language learners • Settings such as crisis centers, detention centers, or medical settings About Educopia Building upon a comprehensive performance assessment created by a team of national experts, Educopia works shoulder-to-shoulder with states to design and implement innovative Tier 2 licensing systems.
