SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – APP SPECIFIC IMPROVEMENTS
Create Control Data
– new Create Offset
Line & Points app
It is now possible to create offset lines and points based on an existing line or
area within the Create Control Data app
Within the new Create Offset Line & Points panel a line or area can be selected
and the offset at which the new line and/or are points should be created.
It is possible to define whether a Line & points or only a Line or only Points
should be created.
The Line ID and Starting point ID which are suggested are based on the current
ID templates, but can be changed
The Map page tab gives a graphical overview of where the newly created points
and/or lines will be created

Note that the F3(Revrs) button allows the direction of the line or area to be reversed
The height of the newly created points is taken from the “original” point from
which the new point was offset.
This new functionality can save time when both surveying parallel objects (such
as a kerb line) or when staking out points
Transfer job between
TS and CS
In previous SmartWorx Viva versions, when transferring a job between a CS
Field Controller and a TS Total Station, only data such as points, lines and areas
were included in the transfer.
With SmartWorx Viva v5.05, all data attached to the job, such as images, scans,
surfaces, HeXML and CAD files will be included in the job transfer.

SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – TS SPECIFIC
Sets of Angles app
Measurement method
In SmartWorx Viva v5.00 a bug was found that when measuring sets of angles
with a mixture of numerical and alphanumerical point numbers, the defined order
of point measurement would change.
For example, if measuring points T1, T2, 10 with the method ABBA, the second
set would be measured as 10, T1, T2 instead of 10, T2, T1. The results were still
correct but user had to edit the data to import it into the office software.
This behaviour is corrected in v5.05
Prism selection
In SmartWorx Viva v5.00 when a user measured points for with a user defined
prism and then started the measurement of the sets, the prism would switch to
the Leica Round Prism. It would need to be reconfigured to the user defined
prism.
With SmartWorx Viva v5.05, the user defined prism is taken over into the Sets of
Angles configuration and automatically used when starting the measurement of
sets.
Tunnel app
A new tool to export to DXF the scanned tunnel profiles is now available in the
Tunnel app.
This tool can be invoked by pressing the Export Dxf Profiles option within the
Scan Profile Toolbox once the scan has been performed.
The Scan Profile Toolbox can be accessed by pressing Fn+F5 (Tools) from the
Scan Profile panel within Tunnel Check.
This option exports the scan results to a DXF file according to a pre-defined
template, which includes the measured points and the resulting profile overlapping the design profile, plus some basic analytical figures, at every selected

chainage.
By pressing F2(Config) it is possible to access the DXF Export Configuration
panel:
Here it is possible to configure the final layout of the DXF file
- by setting the number of columns –the rows are realised from the total
amount of profiles to draw.
- by adding the over and under excavation areas or a comparison plane to
the graphic or by using a filter to exclude points out of the set tolerance.
Freeze in Sets of
Angles app when
using the Italian language
When using the Sets of Angles app with the Italian language then the app would
freeze.
This has been fixed in v5.05.

Instability when using the Scanning app
from a CS field controller
In SmartWorx Viva v5.00 when performing more than one scan and with some
scan definitions the user would see instabilities in the connection between the
CS field controller and the MS50 MultiStation.
This instability is resolved in v5.05
Unexpected error
when using the
Scanning app on the
MS50
After creating a scan definition and selecting to start the scan on the MS50 MultiStation, on certain occasions an error would be shown that the scan was not
successful and needed to be repeated.
This issue has been resolved in SmartWorx Viva v5.05.
Instability when using a CS field controller with a Nova
imaging total station
and the telescope
camera
When using a CS field controller with a Nova imaging total station via long range
Bluetooth the user might have experienced slow performance on the field controller when using tap and turn or zoom to maximum.
Distance measurement missing when
pressing the trigger
key on the MS50
MultiStation more
than once
There was an issue when using the trigger key on the MS50 MultiStation to trigger a measurement. Pressing the key more than once would cause a point to be
stored without a distance measurement.
Loading license keys
generated in Onyx or
MyWorld to Nova
There was an issue that license keys generated in Onyx or MyWorld could not be
loaded to Nova instruments. This issue is now resolved.
This is resolved within SmartWorx v5.05.
This has been corrected to allow working under difficult conditions (e.g. wearing
gloves).

instruments.
SMARTWORX VIVA SOFTWARE IMPROVEMENTS – GS SPECIFIC
Increased flexibility
in using the internal
modem of the CS
field controller
With SmartWorx Viva v5.05 the CS 3.5G modem can now be copied, reconfigured and selected to be used on the internal port.
This allows using the CS internal modem with different configurations, e.g. storing instances of the device with different AT commands.
Device independent
settings are now
stored in the working
style
In SmartWorx Viva version previous to v5.05 the following settings were stored
as a property of the device.
-
APN
PIN code
Use as a dial up or GPRS device
Use of UMTS
This could cause problems for instance when switching between RTK profiles
using the same device once as dial up and once in GPRS mode. The RTK profile
switch would not change that device setting and therefore the setup would not
work.
In v5.05 these settings are now stored as part of the working style/RTK profile.
This allows using the same device in different RTK profiles with reliable working
style changes.

TrimTalk(T) GMSK
mode available for
Satel radios
An additional radio modulation type, TrimTalk(T) GMSK mode, can now be used
with the Satel radios available on the GS sensors. The Satel radios support
Trimble/Pacific Crest modulation types in order to receive RTK data from Trimble
base stations:
•
•
•
•
•
Pac Crest 4FSK
Pac Crest GMSK
Pac Crest FST
TrimTalk(P) GMSK
TrimTalk(T) GMSK
This new modulation type can be configured in the Radio Configuration panel.
The former TrimTalk GMSK mode is still available as a renamed TrimTalk(P)
GMSK mode.
The Trimtalk(T) GMSK mode is supported in the recent Satel radio firmware
which can be found on myWorld.
Configure dial-up in
UMTS mode via OWI
Configuring a UMTS dial-up connection on the GS14 via OWI was not working
correctly. This issue has been solved in SmartWorx Viva v5.05.
RINEX file logging
When activating RINEX raw data logging via the GS web server, a new RINEX
file would be created every 12 hours.
This behaviour has been corrected to start a new RINEX file every 24 hours to
make it consistent with the configuration via the CS15 or CS10 Field Controller.
