PRE-ADMISSION COURSE REQUIREMENTS FOR NURPN.1YR program
The One-Year Certificate program in Nursing Technology, Practical Nursing is a selection-based program,
meaning a student must APPLY to the program and then be SELECTED into the program before being able to meet graduation
requirements. The following COTC courses (or their equivalents) must be completed prior to being admitted into the NURPN.1YR
program. All courses must be completed with a grade of C (2.00) or better.

Students who desire to pursue an Associate Degree in Nursing Technology (Registered Nursing)
are encouraged to take Anatomy and Physiology I and II ([BIO-130 or BIO-150] and [BIO-131 or BIO-151]) as a substitute for
BIO-121 Human Biology which as required on this Plan of Study.
The student who successfully completes the courses listed below on this Plan of Study with a C grade (2.00) or better in each course will
earn a One-Year Certificate degree in Nursing Technology, Practical Nursing and be eligible to sit for the state licensure
examination for a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Ohio.
All Applicants to the this Plan of Study must first successfully meet admission criteria set forth by COTC.
A grade of C (2.00) or better is required for all courses listed on this Plan of Study in order
to continue in and graduate from the Practical Nursing One-Year Certificate program.
All Nursing (NPN) courses must be followed in sequence according to this Plan of Study.
Policies of the Nursing Technology, One-Year Certificate in Practical Nursing program which are unique in regard to admission,
re-admission, grading and promotion are available in the Nursing Student Handbook, Division of HealthTechnologies.
