Rental Agreement
You understand that you are renting (not purchasing) the textbooks listed above and must
return them to the Virginia Book Company no later than August 10th, 2015.
Failure to return rented textbooks within seven days of the due date will be considered intent to
purchase and your credit card will be charged the difference between the rental prices already
paid and the full retail value of the text (new or used depending on the condition prior to renting).
Additionally, you agree to the following terms:
RENT TO OWN – If you decide to purchase rented textbook(s), you may (at any time prior to
the due date) notify the store and pay the difference between the rental price already paid and
the full retail price of the book(s). At this point you will own the book(s) and no further action is
required.
NON-RETURN FEES – Failure to purchase or return rented textbook(s) by the due date will be
considered intent to purchase. Your credit card will be charged the difference between the rental
price already paid and the full retail price of the book, as well as a non-return fee calculated as
25% of the retail price.
Minimal highlighting and writing is allowed. Books must be returned in good condition and free
of excessive damage. Excessive damage is defined as but not limited to:

any water/liquid damage
mold
missing cover(s)
missing page(s)
destroyed text on page(s), and the like.
Virginia Book Company reserves the right to determine if a rental has excessive damage.
Books returned with excessive damage will prevent a successful rental return and you will be
charged the difference between the rental price and full retail value (new or used depending on
the condition prior to renting).
You understand that Virginia Book Company is not responsible for lost or stolen rentals or
rentals sold back to our store or other stores on campus.
Refund Policy:
Last day for Summer 2015 course material rental refunds/exchanges is one day after the first
day of the summer course.
Full refunds are issued for the following reasons:
-student drops or changes classes
-cancellation or change of book adoption
-inadvertently given the wrong book
For all other reasons we offer:
-full store credit, or
-refund minus 10% restocking fee
Requirements for refund/exchange:
-shrink-wrapped packages and access codes must be unopened
-all refunds except store credit are issued to the original form of payment
-if class is dropped or book adoption changed, bring class schedule or syllabus for verification
Return Procedure:
Please return books when your classes end. All rentals must be returned by the due date to
Virginia Book Company. Once your books are returned, your account will be cleared and you
will be emailed confirmation of a successful return. Early returns are welcome if classes end
prior to the due date.
